Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Modern, well appointed and immaculately clean hotel worthy of its four star status. The bar, restaurant and coffee shop were all well decorated, large and staffed with friendly and efficient people. If local people use the facilities then it speaks volumes about value and quality. The hotel room was modern, pleasant, spacious and in very good decorative order. Parking was a huge underground public car park but with special hotel guest rates and direct hotel lift access to reception. The old center of Girona was literally a 7 minute walk from the hotel. There are many good shops around the hotel if shopping is on your list of things to do, if not there are many bars and cafes to cater for all tastes. Girona is a beautiful historic city with a lot to see, but you must be prepared to climb some steps to visit the attractions. Well worth it though. Fabulous mini break with nothing to complain about.

The hotel is new with all the modern amenities. The room was very clean, very comfortable and a good size. It also had a teakettle and some coffee/tea, which I appreciated alot. Bathroom had wonderful fluffy towels and a bidet (my personal favorite feature). The shampoos/conditioner came in small bottles, which imho is such a waste of plastic. I wish they had big refillable containers. The wifi was strong and fast. Breakfast was ample (by spanish standard) . Nothing to complain about.
The hotel is conveniently located only 5 min walk from the train station and 10 min walk from the city center. Plenty of shopping nearby (yes! my favorite Picollinos!) and all kinds of cafe/stores/bakeries/food markets.

Will stay here again! I do recommend this place.

I stayed here for four nights. I had a lovely, spacious room with a sizable modern bathroom. There was plenty of room for storage and the writing desk area worked well for me - although WiFi connection wasn’t the best. Individual room temperature controls were user friendly and efficient. Front desk staff was professional and my check in was quick and easy. The hotel location is excellent - two minutes walk from the train station and five minutes to the historic old town. It’s location in the new town offers countless local eateries, supermarkets, etc. I enjoyed a small breakfast every morning at the hotel’s cafeteria downstairs. Rates were very reasonable. If I ever find myself in Girona I would not hesitate to stay here again.

It is evident that whoever designed this room did not stay in it. The wardrobe is behind the door between the bedroom and the bathroom, there is insufficient storage for anything other than a very short stay, the restaurant offerings are both limited in opening hours and choice, the bar is attached to one of the restaurants and not always available, super ie too often changing of linen and towels when really not necessary, an unwelcoming reception both place and somewhat unsmiling staff, very few staff other than the reception speak other than Spanish or Catalan (and this in an international business 4*hotel). We have been seriously disappointed in our stay. Style over substance came to mind almost immediately and this opinion has not changed during our stay.

Response from HotelCarlemanyGirona, Director General at Hotel Carlemany
Responded 3 Jan 2020
Dear Mrs Crowe, Thank you very much, again, for sharing your experience with us. We appreciate very much that fact you chose our hotel for your stay for almost two weeks. We are sorry you don't like the fact that the wardrobe is located before the bedroom, the only purpose of that was to give more room / space in the actual bedroom area and that all clothing can be place in a dressing room area, We are happy to see that you've experienced all of restaurants and bar, all of the offering a great variety of choices in both food and beverages. Cleaning and changing of linen and towels is done as an standard and whishing you to be done less it could be done on demand as you please and you please. We just need to be informed and we'll do as you please. We hope you had a great time in our lovely city of Girona. Sincerely, Jordi Mias Hotel General Manager

We travelled as a group of 10 for a cycling holiday with Jet2. The hotel was perfect for us centre of Girona, big bike garage, excellent breakfast selection, comfortable rooms and really helpful staff. So, for the first two days we had the perfect cycling holiday.
On Saturday 14/03/2020 Girona went in lockdown due to the COVID-19 crisis. From this point the hotel completely excelled themselves. We were unable to leave the hotel without a reason and there is only so many times you can go to the supermarket (all that was open). The hotel made available for us a conference room with an internet TV so we could run online yoga classes and watch NetFlix. They also kept a cafe bar open for (excellent) food and drinks (at very reasonable prices too) and the service from the staff was superb especially under the very stressful circumstances.
As soon as the COVID-19 situation passes I will be re-booking Hotel Carlemany to show my support and say thanks for the way they looked after me and my group. I also want to cycle the bits of the Girona region I missed out on due to the lockdown as it really is stunning.

This hotel was excellent! The room itself was very spacious and clean. The staff were super friendly as they let me leave my bags with them even after I checked out and spent the day cycling. The hotel's location is perfect -- I could walk to Eat, Sleep, Cycle in a matter of minutes, and there were so many surrounding restaurants, general stores grocery stores, etc.

I picked this hotel with the intent of making my Girona cycling experience easy and feel welcomed, and Hotel Carlemany did not disappoint! Breakfast was yummy, and I was able to eat a massive meal before my ride.

Air conditioning was very cool, which was much needed during this Spanish heat wave!

Thank you Hotel Carlemany! Hasta luego!

We booked this hotel as we were arriving in Girona by car and wanted parking. The hotel is located on the edge of the old town so is great for exploring the history Girona has to offer while also being accessibility to drive out and explore the wider area. The car park is a public car park under the hotel but you get a discount as a resident but you looking at 20€ a night.

The staff here are also super friendly and make your stay feel very relaxed.

We had a superior room which was spacious and quiet and was fine for our three night stay. The hotel does feel in need of a refresh, looking a bit tired and I would say at present it’s 3 1/2 star rather than 4.

We stayed in one of the older not yet refurbished rooms and the hotel feels a little outdated. Nonetheless, the staff is very nice and friendly. You can park your car in the underground parking garage for a reduced fee. The walk into the old center is short and the location of the hotel is convenient. They have a pet friendly policy.

We spent 2 nights here before going over to the coast. It’s in a really good location. In the new part of the city but only 5 minutes from the old city.
Good sized room. Good air con too.
Staff lovely.
Breakfast very good. Beware the fabulous Cronuts!!
We dined in the on-site restaurant - they do a very good set menu for €27 for 3 courses with water and a freshly baked loaf.
Very good value all round.
