Detailed Reviews
A taxi brought us from the station right to the door, so we did not have to drag our luggage over cobblestones. Our room was very well-equipped and comfortable, with double glazing. Excellent breakfast in the highly-rated Restaurant Blanc.
But the helpful. friendly staff were the highlight all during our 3 day stay.

We stayed 3 nights and couldn't believe how close to everything that the old town has to offer. The famous Red Bridge is a mere 50yrds from the front door. Plenty of lovely shops and restaurants within walking distance.
The hotel itself had everything we needed, our room was nice and clean and the bed was big and comfortable. Breakfast was European buffet and was very nice. The freshly squeezed orange juice was particularly tasty.
Staff were all helpful and friendly.
Highly recommended.

We stayed 4 nights at this hotel and really enjoyed it. It is a clean modern nicely remodeled very centrally located in the Girona historic district and an easy walk to points of interest.
Our room was roomy, clean, bright, and cozy. The bed was comfortable and the shower very pleasant with good water pressure. The wifi was good. Lots of outlets.
The breakfast was nice with fruit, pastries, freshly squeezed orange juice, toast and a variety of jams. Bacon and eggs are made to order and coffee is made fresh to each individual order.
Staff is friendly and accomodating. We were very pleased with our stay here, would definitely stay here again, and would recommend this hotel to other visitors.

Omg I am so disappointed. I stayed at this Hotel for several times in the past. I had never an issue but this time it was a disaster. We are talking about a 4 star Hotel so expectations are quite high. The room we got on the second floor was dirty, the bathroom filthy and the walls in the bathroom wet and muddy. Furthermore on August 21st at the evening the elevator was out of service. My partner has a severe leg injury and cannot use the scales for multiple reasons. From a 4 star Hotel you would expect that this issue could be resolved in a couple of hours…. Unfortunately it is not like that. If I give 2 stars this is only thanks to the front office staff. The girls were so friendly and helpful. The Hotel itself needs some serious restructuring works to be carried out. At the moment 4 stars are not justified

We stayed for a couple of nights and we are happy we picked this hotel. It’s located in between the train station and the Old Town. Super accessible by bus and even close enough to be walkable if you don’t have a lot of luggage. Lots of restaurants close to it and Old Town is just a few steps away. The rooms were nice and big and clean. They had a fridge and a kettle in the room, although at checkout they thought that we consumed some items from the mini bar even if we didn’t so that was kind of weird. They held our luggage for us when we checked in early and also after checkout while we waited for our train. I would highly recommend this place!

Strengths: Central hotel, friendly staff, clean and spacious room.
Points for improvement: Breakfast time late and for the price there could be more variety of products and coffee self service. The cleaning staff made quite a lot of noise all day until very late. The tap water in the shower did not come out under pressure or at the selected temperature.

We stayed here for one night in August. It's a lovely upscale hotel, right at the famous bridge of colorful houses.
Pluses:
1. Very friendly, kind staff
2. Lots of hand sanitizer
3. Large, comfy rooms with soft duvets & good mattresses
4. Recently remodeled
5. Lots of outlets
6. Fridge in the room
7. Fast, free wifi
8. Excellent location in Old Town, at the foot of the red bridge, and walkable to everything
9. There's a pool on the lower ground floor! (a small one)
10. Excellent price point
Minuses:
1. Weird lack of amenities: No lotion, hairdryer, or coffee/tea kettle in the room. But yet there's a PHONE in the toilet...
2. Breakfast not included
3. We stayed in a triple room, which had no natural light- only a thin frosted window. Not sure if this is typical of the hotel, but the room really needed SOME natural light.
overall, recommend.

Response from Hotel Ciutat de girona , General Manager at Hotel Ciutat de Girona
Responded 3 Sept 2020
Thank you for taking the time to write about us on trip advisor. And thanks for all the pluses ☺️ we apreciated. And about the amenities, let me explain you that for the covid situation, we had to take it off all of them but normaly we have everything in the room. By the other hand, at the check-in we'd should inform you that we have it under request. We hope to see you again if you ever come to Girona. And if it thas, remember to book on our website because there is always better price. Best regards,

A review of the category would be necessary, it is more 3 stars than 4. The price is 4 but the service has gone down a lot. Well, until now it was our reference hotel in Girona for more than 10 years. There is no longer a swimming pool.
Today when we made the check at 12:30, informing us that we were going to eat and that around 2:30 p.m. we would arrive to rest.
So at 2:30 p.m. the room wasn't there, we had to wait until 3:45 p.m. After going up to the room to rest for a while. When you leave, the elevator no longer works, it seems like this has been happening for days since it appears in other complaints. By the way, no information from the reception. It's a shame that the situation is good, but we will look for another option that is more reliable. For the price, there are surely better options. Gentlemen of the Hotel Ciutat de Girona, it would be good for the client to receive what they pay for and if not, it is not possible.
By the way, the policy of paying when making the check is so that people pay and cannot claim any lack of service. Total disappointment.

We stayed here at the beginning of our biking tour. They are geared up for bikers although the storage location for the bikes is down a windy flight of stairs or a small elevator (you have the wheel the bike in). We had the breakfast in the morning before we left and it was the best of our trip! The beds are VERY firm but the location and cleanliness made up for it!

+1
I can easily forgive that the hotel needs a fair bit of cosmetic maintenance (see pictures of a few items) but the fact it felt physically unsafe wasn’t acceptable.
The hotel uses a motion detector system to turn on hallway lights. Unfortunately, it’s not configured well. The dark picture below is my first two steps into the hallway (from either direction). The picture of the staircase was lightened automatically by my iPhone.
And while it’s likely the city rather than the hotel that created the problem, there is a curb that is invisible to those of us with depth perception struggled (see grey stone picture). The two parts are a step of three inches. Tape (yellow or reflective) would really help.
The breakfast was “meh”, they use only half the room (making it feel crowded), and the towels they insist on leaving take up the entire area by the sink.
The person who was the Front Desk manager said that they were aware. (I’d asked to speak to the hotel manager but he refused to check.) I’d said I felt the problems deserved a one-star review. He told me I was wrong! No sense he cared at all (perhaps because I asked to speak in English and subtlety is English is tough.) He did have a safety light turned on in my hallway (which did help though it buzzed all the time).
So three stars but I doubt I’d return.

I don’t remember it costing that much perhaps it did. We did get a pass at the hotel desk for when we left one day to get back in without it costing more.
Definitely not, it’s only small a bit like a giant bath.
Being a non smoker I do not know. There is an outside seating area and during the World Cup they had a TV set up under the umberellers.
Hello, After a good night’s rest, our guests should recover the glucose levels that their organisms have consumed while sleeping.
The full breakfast buffet is from 7.00 to 10.00h during the week and at the weekend is from 8.00 to 11.00h.
If you have to leave before that time you can also order a breakfast take away, no matter what your time of departure, email us or call our front desk & order Breakfast “To Go”.
