Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.

We have been going for several years, first in a tent and now with a caravan. Small, family-friendly campsite, very quiet. The cleanest bathrooms I have ever seen at a campsite. It does not have a bar or supermarket but being in the center of town you have everything within 3 minutes, including two small beaches and two coves in the same town and Ampurias beach a 10-minute walk away.

Travelled as part of a group of 4 families with 10 children between us (aged from 11 years to 19 years). We rented 4 of the bungalows and the accommodation was excellent, the cleanest I have ever experienced in all my years of visiting campsites. The staff are very efficient and helpful. The location is perfect, midway between the old town and new town, less than 10 minutes walk each way to two beautiful beaches. The promenade in the new town is lively at night and was popular with our teenagers as they wandered down for ice cream or a game of pool. The old town was quaint and quirky with lots of restaurants, tapas bars and gelaterias. This area is popular with french and spanish people so dont expect people to speak perfect english, but we felt this only added to the atmosphere. Although the site does not have a swimming pool we did not miss one as the beaches were so close however you are free to use the pools and facilities at their sister site Las Dunas located a short distance away by car. I could not recommend the campsite or the area highly enough. Definitely one of our best holidays.

Having reserved a pitch for a camper van on our arrival we were allocated a pitch for a tent in the evening, a lot of noise made by a group of kids on bikes who pass over your pitch, skidding, they have the right to make noise until midnight according to the night watchman, not to mention the 7 young Dutch people who put the mess of empty beer bottles into the aisles of plastic timbales thrown on the ground. Monica you are the manager of this campsite although you are very nice I saw you blasé you must on the contrary be firm with this kind of campers and not hesitate to kick them out for the good and peace of mind of the other campers. I think that if we come back to Spain it will be in another campsite.
On the other hand, a big congratulations to the two people who clean the toilets to make them as pleasant as possible despite the lack of civility of some who do not even respect the work of the staff (e.g. picking up waste on the edge of the sinks having a quick check). raclette when getting out of the shower) all this has never killed anyone!!!!
We cut our stay short.

Firstly La Escala town is in two parts, the resort which is a typical Spanish resort allbeit with mostly Spanish holiday makers and fewer tourists than other local resorts, and a small old town area.

Camping la Escala is situated between tLa Escala resort and the old town of La Escal both within easy 10 min walk.

The campsite is small being located in a town with smallish pitches however they were big enough for us and our 8m motorhome. The piches were well shaded and water and electicty was provided also. We were parked next to the bar / resturant / small shop which was never noisy.

The staff were all very friendly and helpful. The chef even used to bring our takeaway food over to our camper for us! Prices in the bar restaurant were also very reasonable.

The new toilet and shower block is the best I've seen in our 10 years of camping. Very modern, very clean - 5-star! The campsite has no pool but don't let that put you off, the main beach at the resort is 10min walk however the small beach at the old town (10m walk also) was much nicer as were all the restaurants and shops.

The campsite on it's own is perfect for couples and families and has the added benefit of being so close to the charms of the old town of La Escala with it's bars, restaurants and shops.

The campsite also seems to have rooms or chalets to let - not mobile homes but purpose built.

Reception staff very friendly with good English, pitches with electric and water on or next to each pitch. Toilet and shower block is new and an excellent facility, with children very well catered for, one of the best I have seen in 10 years. Pine trees provide shade but are well trimmed so do not impede accessibility. Site restaurant and shop was closed in mid-September, but there is an excellent restaurant 50 yards away. Also whether you walk 10 minutes in either direction, the old town of Escala or the newer resort area offer a mutltitude of restaurants and bars. Major supermarkets are situated out of town so a car journey would be necessary.

This is our second visit to Camping L'Escala, the first was in September 2014. We've returned here because we were smitten with this part of Catalonia on our first visit. We are here in our Motorhome, the sites are big and plenty. The toilets/showers are by far the best we have ever experienced throughout our extensive travels throughout Europe. The people here have a pride in their campsite that is second to none. There's no pool, no clubs or bars, but there is a small supermarket eft for the essentials. Who needs them anyway when the local town area which is right on your doorstep has everything to offer, with bags of charm too. The only downside of this establishment is the wifi- in my opinion. Wifi should be free, their prices are far too high. It is widely expected that wifi comes as standard, as a package.

This is not a cheap campsite, but it's also not too expensive. It's worth the money though.

Surprisingly good campsite in the middle of the city. Beach and city centre at close walking range. New and very clean sanitation building. Pitches are of variable length, better to reserve a place up front. No dogs allowed and very quiet. French orientated but also a lot of Spanish and dutch. Supermarkets and bakery nearby.
