We needed a quick overnight stay on the first leg of our drive from Spain to Greece in early August and found that this Ibis Budget in Girona was adequate to meet our needs. It was reminiscent of student housing: smallish room, simple, fairly clean,...More
Pretty basic room but cleaned daily. Bed comfortable and shower good size. Couple of points to be aware of, no drawers/unit for underwear, socks etc. and towels very small (maybe take your own). Otherwise no complaints. 15 minutes from old town. When you come out...More
When you stay at an Ibis you can't really expect too much luxury wise so don't be surprised if you come and it's just a bit basic. Positively, the rooms where clean and the shower was good and they have 24 hour reception, for us...More

Lovely stay at this hotel. Basic room with large, comfy bed. Nice breakfast at reasonable rate. Only downside was distance from centre of Girona. Website said 5 minutes to historic centre but it was actually 15 mins.

I can't really help much as we usually drive to all the hotels. It's not a bad walk to town from the Ibis though. It's a lovely town and downhill on the way there!! I tend to find buses are a bit hit and miss, whilst taxis and trains are quite reasonable.
You should be able to get to Barcelona on the train in about 1 hour but I'm not sure about the airport. If you are time limited, you may be better getting a taxi. The city tour "hop on and off" bus in Barcelona is worth using if you're not sure where you want to go.
