Stayed here for about a week while exploring Barcelona. I was looking for affordable accommodations but you get what you pay for. The room was small. The bed was about 5'8" long, about 30" wide and about as comfortable as sleeping on a park bench....More
We picked this place as it seemed close to everything (correct) and it was a great price (also correct!) and we were absolutely happy with our choice.

I was pleasantly surprised by this hotel which was really close to Las Ramblas & to the old port. Despite looking a bit like a hostel from the outside, inside it was like any other hotel. The view from the room was the backs of...More

With its iconic, old-Europe streets and alleys, this picturesque neighbourhood is the very heart of Barcelona. It blends historic artifacts from its days under Roman dominion up through the Spanish Civil War with a vibrant modern-day culture of artisan shops and authentic culinary experiences. Avid explorers will be thrilled to discover quaint terraces and plazas brought to life by the many small bars and local
musicians lasting late into the night. Fashionistas will be drawn to Portal de L’Angel, which is lined with well-known brand names and smaller boutique stands.

Firstly,I believe Krista has her locations mixed up and may be refering to Palau Güell, which is quite close. Parc Güell is at the top of Barcelona ,compared to the hotel mentioned being down near the port. You will find this hotel very well situated for sightseeing places such as the ramblas, the cathedral, the gothic part of the city(it´s actually in the gothic area) at the top of the ramblas in Plaza Catalunya, you could get on the tourist bus that takes you to parc Güell among other spectacular sights such as Sagrada familia church.
