I will definitely stay at Mare Nostrum if I ever visit Barcelona again. I stayed on the fourth floor and from my window I could see Las Ramblas. The area is noisy but with my window closed the noise was barely audible. Great restaurants, pharmacies, small coffee shops and all kinds of stores and La Boqueria, our favorite place for... More

The location is perfect for exploring Barcelona, you can walk to most everywhere you want to go and public transit is nearby. The rooms are on the small side (typical for Europe) but I knew I wouldn't be spending much time in it. The property is clean and well maintained, breakfast is ample. The reception was friendly and helpful, calling... More

This hotel is perfect for a short break to Barcelona, located right in the heart of La Rambla close to the Boqueria with a metro stop on its front door enabling you to explore the city. Rooms are small but pleasant, bathroom/shower is fab. Continental breakfast included every day, and reception staff more than accommodating. We were even offered complimentary... More

Small hotel situated just near the Barcelona market on Las Ramblas. Hotel clean and tidy ,good value for money. Breakfast continental not a great choice. The rooms although small were very comfortable and the bathroom is a wet room which was superb. The downside was no lift to the first floor reception although there was a lift to the rooms

Small hotel situated just off the bottom end of the Las Ramblas. Hotel clean and tidy, small rooms but good value for money. Bad points it is situated centrally the the "ladies of the night" so a good chance you will get some unwanted attention if you come back after midnight!

Marenostrum is described as a hostel. It's under selling itself. The accommodation is on the first floor upwards. The rules are that you hand the keys over as you leave. A good move. The rooms are accessible by the smallest elevator in the world. They're adequately equipped, the bathroom, whilst small worked well enough. Okay, negativity over. The hostel is... More

We stayed at this hotel for one night after landing in Barcelona on a friday. We would normally have picked something a bit nicer, but for some reason the hotels for that one night were very expensive. We booked a triple room as it was the last one available. The room we had was very small at about 10 square metres with 3 single beds jammed in. The bathroom was so tiny that you have to have the 2 shower doors pushed into the shower in order to use the toilet. The basin was in the main... More

The location is brilliant - right in the middle of the city. But the hotel itself is very very basic. However, while travelling as a tourist by yourself, most people don't really spend much time in the hotel itself, so it is adequate. The room was very small, and breakfast was acceptable. There was never any staff there for breakfast.... More

Staying in La Rambla

Neighbourhood Profile
La Rambla
Barcelona's most famous street was once a dry riverbed. Now, La Rambla is a 1200-metre boulevard, and a major draw for visitors. During the day, La Rambla fills with pedestrians, some of which stroll past impressive human statues and artists while others take a break to people-watch while enjoying a drink at one of the many terraces. Housed here is the iconic Boqueria Market that offers one of the most varied and appetising selections of local produce and specialty meats and treats. While it’s important for tourists to keep an eye on their belongings at all times, this area is most safely explored in the daytime and is a must see for everyone who visits.
