The hotel is located right next to the Gothic Quarter, and only a quick walk from Las Ramblas. Really great restaurants & bars nearby, and over the road from a Metro Station. When we arrived we were offered a glass of Cava. The staff were very friendly, and always willing to help with any questions you had. Our room was...

We stayed at the Hotel Montcada in Barcelona for 7 nights in October 2013. I picked this hotel from a Thomsons brochure as it features a rooftop terrace with all round views of Barcelona. After booking and paying I read further about this hotel and was disappointed to see that the terrace did not open after the end of September....

We stayed here last weekend following a cruise that ended in BCN. The hotel was able to accommodate several rooms worth of passengers from our ship dropping bags by early in the day. From the hotel, the El Born and Barri Gotic neighborhoods , as well as Las Ramblas, we're easily accessible. Free wifi worked great. Our room was ultra...

We stayed at this hotel during November and from arriving the staff were really friendly. We had asked for a high floor after reading reviews about the metro station being below the hotel. We were on the 8th floor which had the most wonderful view of the Barri Gotic area. We asked to borrow a kettle from reception as my...

We recently spent 4 nights in the Montcada for my 50th birthday. The hotel is situated on the Via Lientia a very busy road you can experience some road noise however this did not spoil our stay. It is a short walk to the port and beach and Barri Gothic also convenient as on the Bus Turistic route . We...

We have just returned from a three night stay at this hotel and it was everything we hoped for and more. Check in was speedy and efficient; helped along by a glass of cava! I had mailed the hotel prior to arrival requesting a room with a view if possible; we had a room on the 8th floor with a...

Simple but clean and tastefully decorated. The greatest highlight at the Montcada is it's rooftop with amazing views to the Gothic barrio and it's location. The hotel is right at the entrance of the Gothic Barrio so we were able to walk everywhere including historic landmarks such as the Barcelona Cathedral as well as lots of shops and restaurants. The...

Staying in El Born / La Ribera

Neighbourhood Profile
El Born / La Ribera
The labyrinth that is El Born becomes most apparent the moment you turn down one of its side streets. But this is one of the few labyrinths you might actually enjoy losing your way in. After all, there are few places that live and breathe such exciting energy regardless of the time of day. This neighbourhood seamlessly transcends the old and new parts of the city, reflected in its vast array of restaurants ranging from fancy Michelin-star establishments to trendy fusion restaurants. Here you'll find historical and cultural attractions such as the popular Picasso Museum and the Gothic cathedral La Santa Maria del Mar, where you just might be able to catch a traditional Catalan wedding.
