Genuinely friendly, cosy B&B in the centre of Barcelona next to the Palau de la Musica. Excellent breakfast (plenty of options) on internal terrace. Couple running the pension couldn't have been nicer. Lounge for guests use with travel books (which we borrowed for the day) free tea/coffee and water cooler for drinks, Use of fridge. Excellent value for money. Only...

We've booked this location because there were so many positive reviews on the internet. The location and the buidling were good: an old and nice building in the middle of the city, close to everything! The room is sober, but OK. The bathroom is OK, only the free shampoo was in a dirty bottle and the toilet-pulverizer made a lot...

Pensio 2000 is a great choice for a short stay in Barcelona. Orlando, the owner, is so welcoming and there's nothing he hasn't thought of to make his guests stay more comfortable. Even down to the ingenious quirky case lift! We had a large double room with two small balcony windows, and the double glazing ensures a good nights sleep...

Spent 4 days at Pensio 2000 - are quite satisfied. This is a pension, not a hotel.... Local flavor yet loads of conveniences. Things started well with Orlando giving us a map and some tips. They ended well, too, as Orlando mapped the 7 minute walk to the airport bus (6,9€). The rooms are interesting, clean, and homey. Piles of...

Great location and very helpful people. We had traveled to Barcelona from Madrid and we'd foolishly left our passports behind. It could have caused no end of problems, but we managed to get scans emailed over and Orlando seemed happy with that.

We stayed at Pensio 2000 at the beginning and again at the end of our bicycle tour of Catalunya. We found the location to be excellent, the rooms perfectly adequate and the owners, Orlando and Manuela, to be friendly and extremely helpful. For instance, they were willing to let us leave our empty suitcases with them for two weeks and...

We love to travel and choose to stay in B&B's or small places where we can talk to local people and meet other travelers. One of the reasons we chose Pensio 2000 was because many of the reviews talked about how helpful Orlando and Manuela were. We stayed at Pensio 2000 and unfortunately saw Orlando once the entire stay. The...

I could not disagree more with the previous review. I have stayed many times at pensio 2000 and every time has been wonderful. Your hosts orlando and manuela could not be more attentive in helping you finding your feet around this magnificent city. It offers everything from roman times to modern day architecture. It has been described as " The...

We are experienced travelers used to staying at economy accommodations. While the location was good and the facilities were fine, I do not think the owners have the temperament to to be in this business. They acted like they were doing us a favor letting us stay there. I am in my 60's and I have never had anyone go...

Orlando and Manuela are awesome! The room was clean and comfortable with a nice bathroom, A/C and a balcony overlooking an amazing concert hall. We are from New York so having Orlando give us tips where to go and what to do in English was a great bonus! When we go back to the beautiful city of Barcelona, we will...

Staying in El Born / La Ribera

Neighbourhood Profile
El Born / La Ribera
The labyrinth that is El Born becomes most apparent the moment you turn down one of its side streets. But this is one of the few labyrinths you might actually enjoy losing your way in. After all, there are few places that live and breathe such exciting energy regardless of the time of day. This neighbourhood seamlessly transcends the old and new parts of the city, reflected in its vast array of restaurants ranging from fancy Michelin-star establishments to trendy fusion restaurants. Here you'll find historical and cultural attractions such as the popular Picasso Museum and the Gothic cathedral La Santa Maria del Mar, where you just might be able to catch a traditional Catalan wedding.
