Under 15 min walk to lots of things like Rambla street, Montjuice and park area (go down 2 blocks to side street Margarit and follow up hill), metro subway 1 block north, Paralelo 91 restaurant close was great, room small but clean and new, good standard breakfast, good service.... Happy with choice.

The hotel was very close to the subway, although we took the subway everyday. We walked from Las Ramblas back to the hotel, and it was a little bit shady, but was only a 10-15 minute walk. There was a bunch of a good restaurants within a 5 minute walk. The problem was the homeless guys sleeping outside the hotel....

I cannot imagine why this hotel only has two stars. The rooms are very spacious, clean, quiet and tastefully decorated. The breakfast is well beyond the norm, and the location, a block from Metro Line 2, is very convenient, especially for getting to Gaudi's fantastic cathedral, a straight shot of about 20 minutes. One can walk to Las Ramblas. The...

Barcelona is the party-hub of Spain and its extremely hard to find a decent hotel at a reasonable price over here on a weekend, especially if you are looking to stay in a centrally-located area. But after an intensive research on tripadvisor, I managed to find Hotel Paral.lel and it met all the stipulated criteria: 1. Centrally-located- tick 2. Moderate...

Stayed in this hotel for a weekend. Although sparsely decorated, the room had plenty of space, was clean, and air conditioned. There was a tv, but it was to the side of the room on the desk, not at the base of the bed. Bathroom was nice and modern, but the shower had a glass screen that goes halfway across...

Stayed here at the end of June for a weekend break. This hotel was recommended on the BA website and was only a two star rating. Don't be put off by the low star rating as the hotel was spotlessly clean, hotel receptionists extremely helpful and our room had a new bathroom and flat screen tv. My friends room on...

Good value simple yet comfortable. I am currently at Caledonian in Barcelona which is more expensive and not as good. Only negative is badly designed shower door which floods bathroom when you take a shower.

Just returned from a five day working trip to Barcelona and was booked into this hotel by the festival organisers. Situated on the corner of Paralel, one of the main avenues through Barcelona and on the airport side of the city so no hassles crossing a hectic metropolis, a 35 to 40 euro taxi ride from the airport (varying price...

Stayed for 3 nights and got a better rate as a result. It's very close to transit, and a short walk to a lot of great tourist sites. Many restaurants and everything you may need close by. Room was very clean. Bathroom was quite nice. Staff was VERY helpful.

I was in Barcelona hotel Parallel 30.5.-3.6.2012. I wasn't expecting too much, because it's 2-star hotel. So I was pleasantly suprised when I arrived. The room was really nice and clean! I couldn't be more pleased with that. We had also breakfast which was very good. Cereal, muesli, yoghourt, different kinds of breads, many sorts of sweets. The only thing...

Staying in Montjuic

Neighbourhood Profile
Beyond the four columns standing guard at the Plaça Espanya, beyond even the extravagant and colourful fountains guiding your way up the boulevard, stands the impressive and towering structure of the Palau Nacional, the national museum. At this very spot in front of the cascades of the central fountain, Freddie Mercury and Montserrat Caballe gave the performance of their lifetimes to welcome the 1992 Olympic Games to this magnificent city. And true to its anticipation, the games transformed the city, reimagining the mountain of Montjuic with the development of an arena, stadium, and many other sporting facilities that are open to visitors year-round. Surrounding the adjacent side of the plaza are well-established hotels catering to business guests and a shopping mall transformed out of a historic bullfighting arena.
