We stayed for 6 nights at the Hotel Barcelona Universal. It is a friendly, welcoming hotel on avenue Paral-lel, right outside the subway (L2 and L3 lines). The staff is helpful and accommodating. The lobby features a friendly bar and desktop computers. The rooms are clean, modern and moderate sized. The rooftop features a small pool and a nice sitting...

I visited this hotel as part of a stag group. Some were a little more rambunctious than I would have wished but the hotel took all shenanigans in their stride and with consummate professionalism. The rooms were in good order and reasonably priced. It's very central and has a rooftop pool. The gym is a token effort. The bar area...

Stayed here in Aug 2013 whilst on our Europe tour. We lodged here for 6 nights and couldn't fault it. Great facilities, pool, breakfast, wifi, service. Everything about this hotel made our trip to Barcelona that much easier. The hotel is about 25 mins from the airport and is a stone throws away from the main shopping street La Rambla....

We stayed in a triple room with our teenage son for 6 nights. Much cheaper than having to get two rooms. The room was spacious, beds comfortable, great maid service and plenty of water pressure in the bathroom. Thankfully didn't have any problem with cigarette smells (this is Europe), though there was occasional noise issues. The location was excellent. Right...

From the moment we arrived the staff made us feel special. When we arrived a few hours early they just took our details stored our luggage free of charge. They then gave us a map of the city which they explained in detail and also a card with the hotels name and address on(just incase we got lost and could...

Clean and comfortable. Well maintained room with bath. Small roof top pool. Great location next to Paral-lel Metro station where you can get the Funicular Train to Montjuic and from there get a cable car to the castle at the top of Montjuic or a different cable car which goes across to San Sebastian Beach.

The hotel is in a reasonably good location, it's 25/20 minutes away from the main spot to go out. But the subway is right outside. The staff is very nice, and the swimming pool with the bar on the rooftop is great, as is the view. I do not recommend the breakfast though. If it's included in your package, good,...

Stayed here in May 2013 with my mother for 4 nights. The location was fantastic as a metro stop was located literally on the doorstep. It was also a short walk of around 15 min to La Ramblas, so that we close enough but also far enough from the noise. We stayed on the 7th floor so noise at night...

Staying in El Raval

Neighbourhood Profile
El Raval
Once a downtrodden corner of downtown Barcelona, this gritty area has seen a cultural resurgence boasting an excellent nightlife and one of the most multi ethnic spots in the entire city. A sense of humble authenticity protrudes from the many independent record stores, second hand shops, and student bars that seem to light up the streets day and night. The rocking epicenter, the MACBA Plaça, is a modern day forum for bohemian youth, abuzz with the sights and sounds of late-night gatherings and talented skateboarders showing off their latest tricks.
