We booked this hotel through Hotels.com as the price ($129 per night) and location for one night post-cruise due to flight scheduling. We had previously stayed in Barcelona for 3 days prior to our cruise and had seen the hotel off of a busy street. Upon our arrival, our room was ready for early check-in. The reception staff told me...

We arrived on May 1 on a transatlantic cruise... It was our first time in Barcelona and of course since we got off a cruise ship our arrival was very early. We were checked by a wonderful front desk whose name was "Christian". He took care of us every step of the way! Such wonderful service! I also have to...

What a find, this Hotel is within walking distance of just about everything. The rambles, cafe's shops, well you name it.Highly recommend seeing the magic fountain. The only thing I can say is that we first had a room at the front of the Hotel and I am a light sleeper,so we changed to a room at the back of the...

We stayed at this hotel for 4 nights and all in all our stay was good. Check in was quick and our room which was on the 8th floor was large and spotless. Staff friendly. We had booked the room with breakfast included but I agree with other reviewers that I would have been really disappointed if I was paying...

The staff were very nice when we had an aggressive drunk pounding on our door at 5 am on our 2nd night and resolved the situation immediately. Unfortunately the same cannot be said about the manager, when I complained the following morning he did not offer any form of apology or even assurance that it would not happen again as...

This was one of the few hotels we found in Barcelona that could accommodate three adults in one room. The room, L shaped, was even bigger than we thought after looking at photographs online. Two large beds on one side of the room with a sofa bed in the other corner. All mattresses, including the sofa bed were very comfortable,...

Hotel locates right at metro station that takes us to all places in Barcelona. We stayed for 5 nights in a large room and comfortable room. You have everything you need at the hotel including free wifi, which is first thing we asked at any place we stay these days. Helpful staff very patiently explained to us the directions to...

We stayed here one night and found this hotel to be very comfortable. Our room was rather large and clean. The beds are comfy too! The hotel staff are VERY helpful! And supplied us, happily, with maps and directions to all the sites. We liked the great convenience of being able to check our bags and use the safe deposit...

Just got back from a long weekend at the hotel for our honeymoon and we could have been more pleased. Check in was easy and we we're soon on our way up to our room. Later in the evening we came back to find a bottle of champagne left in our room which was much appreciated. The room was a...

From the minute the bell boy carried in our bags from the airport taxi we were impressed with the service at the Barcelona Universal. The receptionist spoke perfect English and explained where to go for breakfast, etc. He asked if we had been to Barcelona before (we hadn't) and then made sure we knew exactly where we were going and...

Staying in El Raval

Neighbourhood Profile
El Raval
Once a downtrodden corner of downtown Barcelona, this gritty area has seen a cultural resurgence boasting an excellent nightlife and one of the most multi ethnic spots in the entire city. A sense of humble authenticity protrudes from the many independent record stores, second hand shops, and student bars that seem to light up the streets day and night. The rocking epicenter, the MACBA Plaça, is a modern day forum for bohemian youth, abuzz with the sights and sounds of late-night gatherings and talented skateboarders showing off their latest tricks.
