Barrio Gòtico (Barri Gòtic)
With its iconic, old-Europe streets and alleys, this picturesque neighbourhood is the very heart of Barcelona. It blends historic artifacts from its days under Roman dominion up through the Spanish Civil War with a vibrant modern-day culture of artisan shops and authentic culinary experiences. Avid explorers will be thrilled to discover quaint terraces and plazas brought to life by the many small bars and local musicians lasting late into the night. Fashionistas will be drawn to Portal de L’Angel, which is lined with well-known brand names and smaller boutique stands.

Excellent central in the beautiful gothic area location. Rooms basic but clean and everything worked. Noisy at night but fine with ear plugs. Breakfast a disappointment. But would defiantly stay again.

Hubby and I just returned from a weeks stay at the Regencia Colon Hotel in Barcelona. The location could not be more perfect. A stones throw away from the Barcelona Cathedral in the Gothic Quarter, makes it central to all the sites and a great home base to work from when

Regencia Colon is an awesome, small hotel that is so very close to everything! The staff is so friendly and helpful, we will definitely stay here again! We are right next to Plaça Nova, which is in the heart of the Gothic Quarter. Minutes walk to Picasso Museum, shopping and

Regencia Colon Hotel, is situated one street away from Barcelona Cathedral (the old one) , which means you are right in the centre of the Gothic Quarter, but with less of the noise. With nearby hotels charging £200+ the Regencia Colon is excellent value for money. It does not

The Madrid trains typically come to Barcelona Sants train station. This is the largest Madrid station. It is a short cab ride of about two miles to the Regencia Colon, right behind the Colon Hotel, which is across the square from the Cathedral. You can walk it if you are fit and traveling light.

Bigger than a standard double bed, not sure if ours was King Size - we had a room for 2.

We arrived to Barcelona Airport and took a taxi to the hotel. I found the taxis to be relatively inexpensive and I took them other times around the city. The metro is also great once we got our bearings but you do have a further walk (from the Placa de Catalunya)- we got a 10 trip card but we were there for a week and you can use it on the buses too. One card can be used for multiple people.

The bus is the cheapest way. Take it to the plaza Catalunia and walk about ten minutes from there in the direction of the cathedral. Taxi rider cost about € 45,=
