Barrio Gòtico (Barri Gòtic)
With its iconic, old-Europe streets and alleys, this picturesque neighbourhood is the very heart of Barcelona. It blends historic artifacts from its days under Roman dominion up through the Spanish Civil War with a vibrant modern-day culture of artisan shops and authentic culinary experiences. Avid explorers will be thrilled to discover quaint terraces and plazas brought to life by the many small bars and local musicians lasting late into the night. Fashionistas will be drawn to Portal de L’Angel, which is lined with well-known brand names and smaller boutique stands.

This was the perfect 3 star hotel for our stay in Barcelona. It is right in the center, separated from the cathedral square by only the Colon Hotel. La Rambla is 3 blocks to the right. We walked everywhere. We had a room on the end, which appeared to be bigger than other

Perfect English speaking staff. Very helpful and friendly. Rooms are okay. Bathroom needs a bit of a tidy up but nothing major and perfectly useable. We stayed on the 4th floor on the corner overlooking the square, facing the cathedral although we couldn't see it. Beds are

We stayed at room at street side. There came a bit noise but putting the shaders down, and closing the window properly helps. By the times we arrived there was huge rains, and the wifi was not working because of that. Breakfast was decent, 7.50€ extra for the room.

Booked a 4 night stay and chose this hotel for the location. It is in the perfect spot in the beautiful Gothic area. While others said the bells of the cathedral kept them awake I think unless you are a very light sleeper then it is fine. Our room was a very good size with comfy

The Madrid trains typically come to Barcelona Sants train station. This is the largest Madrid station. It is a short cab ride of about two miles to the Regencia Colon, right behind the Colon Hotel, which is across the square from the Cathedral. You can walk it if you are fit and traveling light.

We arrived to Barcelona Airport and took a taxi to the hotel. I found the taxis to be relatively inexpensive and I took them other times around the city. The metro is also great once we got our bearings but you do have a further walk (from the Placa de Catalunya)- we got a 10 trip card but we were there for a week and you can use it on the buses too. One card can be used for multiple people.

The bus is the cheapest way. Take it to the plaza Catalunia and walk about ten minutes from there in the direction of the cathedral. Taxi rider cost about € 45,=
