The room was very modern and clean. Woke up the first morning to the sound of a jackhammer above our heads. Could not believe the noise. The second morning we woke to a down stream of water coming out of the ceiling. The front desk staff were very unfriendly and cold. There were other quest also trying to complain about...

The Royal Rmablas Hotel has a great location right at the top of La Ramblas. The superior rooms are unusual in style, a little like an Ikea show room. The Hotel is currently undergoing refubishment, some of the rooms have been completed but the public areas have not yet been finished, The style is very plsuh but a little odd....

Our two days stay at Le Ramblas hotel was most enjoyable, the staff were extremely helpful and spoke excellant english which was a huge bonus. Very central to everything, our lovely room overlooked the Boulevard which was wonderful as we could sit at the window and soak up all the atmosphere. A wonderful experience.

The hotel was a good value for the location and type of room (superior view overlooking La Rambla, soundproof windows, included breakfast). It was approx half the price of hotels on the same block and I imagine the rooms were similar. We checked in early (7am) and hotel was able to get us a room by 10am. Appreciated after an...

We had a fantastic stay at this hotel. We booked a Family room on the Royal floor, as we were are family of 2adults and 3 children. Please note that the bedding for this room for a family of this size is a king bed (two twin beds joined as most hotels) and a double sofa bed). On our request...

We stayed in this hotel for 4 nights during our visit in Barca. The hotel location is excellent, very central. Althougth the hotel resides near a very very crowded and noisy street (La Rambla), no voice inside the room. The restaurant of the hotel is worth eating. The staff are very helpfull and kind. We plan to come to barcelona...

Whilst the hotel was in a good location for shops and tours etc the hotel itself was very disappointing for a 4 star hotel. What was described as a superior room overlooked a yard, the room itself was small and dark and extremely basic- there wasn't even a kettle supplied. Maintenance on the hotel commenced every morning at 8.00am with...

Agree with all positive reviews there is about Royal Ramblas! Highly recommend this hotel!! We had recently renovated, beautiful and stylish room with a large bed and also that opening window to La Rambla. No need to watch TV, since there is always something happening in the street. The only very tiny thing was that some noices from the neighbours...

Went with my sister-in-law and mutual friend to celebrate a special birthday and stayed in a triple superior room overlooking the Ramblas. Apart from being so central for everything, the hotel was comfortable, clean and the room was great. Three people sharing a room and bathroom - no problem here. Roomed cleaned and replenished every day. We didn't include breakfast...

Staying in El Raval

Neighbourhood Profile
El Raval
Once a downtrodden corner of downtown Barcelona, this gritty area has seen a cultural resurgence boasting an excellent nightlife and one of the most multi ethnic spots in the entire city. A sense of humble authenticity protrudes from the many independent record stores, second hand shops, and student bars that seem to light up the streets day and night. The rocking epicenter, the MACBA Plaça, is a modern day forum for bohemian youth, abuzz with the sights and sounds of late-night gatherings and talented skateboarders showing off their latest tricks.
