I spent three nights here this month and thoroughly enjoyed my stay. The room was excellent, and although overlooking the street, was very quiet. Very clean, modern bathroom and well appointed. But it was the staff that made the stay most enjoyable; nothing was too much trouble including giving me breakfast in my room one morning because I had to... More

Hotel Balmes is in an excellent location only 2 blocks from the bustling Rambla Catalunya. Hotel staff is friendly and helpful. The rooms are good size, excellent closed space and very clean. Bed was very comfortable and the room is very bright with tons of daylight. Only negative, be aware that the walls are thin and you can definitely hear... More

A nice city hotel. The front staff is Friendly and helpful. The rooms are large for a European hotel. The walls are thin and you can hear snoring and water running from adjacent rooms. The breakfast is adequate, however the staff seems disorganized and are inefficient in performing their duties.

We have recently returned from a wonderful few days in Barcelona, staying at Hotel Balmes. The hotel is in a quiet area about a 20 minute walk away from the crowds around Placa de Catalunya and near Gaudi's Casa Batllo and La Perera. Staff were friendly and helpful and rooms spotlessly clean and comfortable. Breakfast was leisurely as many hot... More

Found this Hotel on Expedia. The pictures on Expedia resemble exactly what you will find. Lovely place, very clean, friendly, comfortable. I haven't tried the breakfast so can't comment. It's little pricey for breakfast considering the many eateries one can choose for breakfast close by. I can't comment on the quality as I haven't tried. The little bar area out... More

A clean hotel with great location right next to Rambla de Catalunya and Passeig de Gracia: the eixample area is super safe and with lots of great restaurants. The pool area is really peaceful to visit, although I wish the sun would hit the pool area better for sunbathing: it was in the shade most of the day. All in... More

I was in Barcelona last week to film a commercial, and my client took care of airfare and accommodations. So, as a disclaimer, I cannot speak to this hotel's value exactly, because I didn't pay for it myself. That said, my experience at the Balmes was overwhelmingly positive, and it struck me as a place I would have found, booked... More

Just back from our stay in this wonderful city. Balmes hotel was very good. It is in an excellent location, just beyond the noisy streets but still easy to reach everywhere. Staying in Eixample

Neighbourhood Profile
Eixample
Passing through the glorious Plaça Catalunya, you enter the newer city district of Eixample, literally translated as “extension,” which immediately becomes recognisable by its more spacious streets and elegant atmosphere. The main artery of this sizable district, Passeig de Gracia, is lined with high-end international designer stores. Not to be outdone, the glitz and glamour of this zone is perhaps best exemplified by the comfortable and lavish five-star hotels that flank the divine and modernistic buildings from some of the world’s most recognised architects such as Gaudi and Montaner.
