Hotel Colón has garnered praise for its spacious and immaculate rooms that offer captivating views of the cathedral, set within a central location favored for its convenience to attractions and transportation. While the vibrant atmosphere enriched by street music is a highlight for guests, some have been perturbed by noise from both renovations and outdoor performers. The hotel's amenities and professional service often receive commendations, though there are mentions of service inconsistencies and overpriced offerings that lack value. Overall, the hotel's cleanliness and prime setting stand out as significant positives.

Overall we very much enjoyed our stay at Hotel Colon. It's in a perfect location. The staff were all friendly and helpful, whether room cleaners, working on reception or elsewhere. Raquel in particular was brilliantly informative and helpful in advising places to visit to suit our tastes and helping us book certain things. Personally we were glad we chose not to have breakfast included as the options on offer were not to our tastes and we preferred to find other little places nearby once we were ready. Rooms are well soundproofed from noise outside once your balcony doors are closed. There are TV's but with very few options for English speaking channels or Movies etc.

There appeared to be some work going on within the hotel higher up and on long days when we were out early and were going out late, sometimes we wanted to have an afternoon nap in our room and found the constant noises going on a bit annoying - though we also understand the work does have to be done sometime. Our only other minor gripe was that tea's and coffee's were only topped up if you filled in an order sheet and were then charged extra for them. We found this surprising, especially for a 4 star hotel.

First hotel stay since the easing of the restrictions in Barcelona and a new option as I have never stayed here before. The hotel only re-opened on July 1st so it still quiet but you felt safe as they have taken all the necessary protective measures.

Checkin was quick, payment for the stay was charged as well as a small deposit of €20 per day held on your credit card for incidentals ( refunded when you checked out) . The room was gorgeous, spacious and very restful and well appointed. The beds were clean and comfortable , I had the best night’s sleep in a hotel for a long time ! The A/C was easy to use and pretty quiet, it kept the room lovely and cool, the windows were great , you could hardly hear anything from outside once they were closed. Amazing , considering you are in the middle of the city.

The bathroom was modern, the shower was super easy to use, just push one button and that’s it !! No messing with any knobs or controls , the temperature was easy to adjust if you so wished. Double basin and lots of counter space for your toiletries. Plenty of complimentary shampoo, soaps and soft towels . They even provided 2 face masks which was useful as they are now mandatory while out in public in Barcelona.

There was a mini bar, a coffee machine and also a kettle if you wanted to make tea, also included was 2 free bottles of water which was a nice touch. Wifi (free) was easy to connect to and reconnected straight away once you re-entered the hotel.

Breakfast was included in the rate as I booked it direct online on their website. It was a real spread , eggs with bacon, fruit, pastries, toast, cheeses and cold meat selection and fresh tea or coffee and cava !! The selection of bread rolls was good too. Everything was delicious , all the portions were individually wrapped so there was no contamination. The cooked items once ordered were brought straight to your table.

The staff were all attentive, nothing was too much trouble and they were more than happy to help. Friendly and they had good English as well as other languages I’m sure too ! The location is just perfect, right opposite the cathedral and what a view. Drinks on the terrace bar on the 7th floor was a perfect end to the day with mazing views. It is a super hotel in which I hope to return to next time I’m in town, it’s a great hotel and a perfect place to stay in Barcelona, Make a reservation and support the hotel, you’ll appreciate it.

I would highly recommend this hotel. It's conveniently located near an area where taxis frequent, so many restaurants and bars nearby. Walking distance to the El Born and in the Gothic area. Front desk and hotel staff were extremely friendly and offered to hold on to our bags while we ventured out to the city before our room was ready. The buffet breakfast was included because we booked directly from their website and was really good with Cava included in the buffet. We stayed in the Design room and it was beautiful. We had a huge soaking tub which I used after a long day of site seeing. The bed was comfortable and we had a room with a window facing an ally way/side street and we had no problems with noise or sleeping at night. We had our free drink plus more at the rooftop bar which was beautiful and watched the sunset from there which overlooked the Barcelona Cathedral that is right in front of the hotel. I would recommend this hotel and I would stay here again on my next visit to Barcelona.

We stayed here for 2 nights on Feb 21 and out the 23rd of February. The staff was excellent, I speak fluent Spanish but everyone spoke good English. The food was great. I had a good breakfast one of the mornings. I ordered an omelette and got food from the buffet.
You are right in the Gothic Quarter so we really enjoyed that.
The view from the restaurant on 7th floor was amazing, we ordered 2 beers from the bar area.
The rooms were clean. I couldn't quite figure out how to use the air conditioner even though the bell person did show me. It didn't function as it was supposed to so we were quite warm at night. I like it cold.
La Rambla is only a 7-8 minute walk away. There is the L3 metro line almost in front of the Cathedral which was quite convenient for us to take to all of the sites we hit.
The Arc di Triump is about a 15 minute walk away. I loved the narrow roads all around this old area of Barcelona. Plaza de Catalunya was about a 7-8 minute taxi ride from the hotel which was very convenient since we took the A1 from the BCN airport, only about 6 Euros.
Someone charged their food to my room on one particular night, so upon checkout, I was told to pay that amount. When I told the front desk person that I didn't order food on that day, he removed this from my tab. No problems.

It's hard to give a place a good review when it couldn't offer you a good night's sleep.

Apparently this £150 a night hotel picks and chooses when it affords you in-room facilities like temperature control. Perhaps on other days it removes the remote control from the room or turns the water supply off. I don't know.

But at the moment it's temperature control through the thermostat that's not on offer. They guessed I wanted to the room at a cosy 28 degrees during the night and wouldn't want to change it. So a choice between opening the patio doors onto the noisy alley behind the hotel or enjoy a sauna. As a result, this hotel gets two stars for failing to deliver the very basics of a stay - a good night's sleep.

I complained at check-out by the way. Showed the guy my red eyes. Pondered with him why they didn't think guests might wish to control their own ambient temperature rather than arbitrarily switch room features off when it suited them. Nothing.

First visit to this hotel but second to the wonderful city of Barcelona. The hotel was in a great location within walking distance to the port area and to explore the old city with numerous historical buildings and open courtyards. The hotel is within easy walking distance to the Airport Transfer bus which is a great service and highly recommended (but account for extra time as the bus gets busy both ways). The hop-on-hop-off tour bus is also a great way to explore the city and one of the stops is near the hotel.

Strongly recommend the Colon where all the staff were very friendly and helpful from the lovely front porter to the guest relations lady.

I stayed in Hotel Colon from 13-17 October in a superior room, and as expected was allocated a room at the back of the hotel facing an alley instead of the front, however their service staff at the breakfast were extremely racist. I was told on one day when asking for a coffee to get it myself when all tables around me were served, another day when I asked for a hot chocolate, the server got it and a packet and told me to go make it myself the next time. On the third day, I asked for a waffle but the server feigned ignorance and my neighbouring table with Americans got it 5 minutes, when I drew it to the servers notice he said please contact my colleague I can't help you. Seriously I mean, if you don't want business of non Whites please make it clear, I felt terribly insulted staying at this property. Rooms are decent and location is nice, you have to drag your bags for a bit as the taxi can't go the front gate as it is in a pedestrian square but if you're an non white I suggest looking elsewhere for better service.

Chose this hotel to stay for my 50th birthday holiday in Barcelona. I was not disappointed. The room was lovely, and although we did not have a room directly facing the cathedral, we still had a side street view that you could see the cathedral and other buildings in the surrounding area. The complimentary bathroom toiletries were of a great standard and there was also a Nespresso machine in the room.

What we liked about this hotel was there was no passing traffic on the street below as it is pedestrianised. Within a ten minute walk was the la rambla, the metro and being able to walk through the gothic quarter on the doorstep was just perfect for us. We felt safe at all times. Also loved having a drink on the rooftop terrace looking over the cathedral was just magical.

The staff made a special effort on my actual birthday leaving a little gift for me in the room and a big shout out to Raquel who made us feel so welcome each morning at breakfast. Really informative and so pleasant to deal with. I would definitely recommend staying at this hotel.

Stayed here over a long layover between Asia and North America. The hotel was located in the heart of the gothic quarter - excellent location, surrounded by great restaurants and cool alleys to walk through. The hotel itself was clean, staff was very polite and extremely helpful Check-in was quick. The room was very clean and spacious with a super comfy mattress. Stayed in a design room. Quiet at night. I actually got very sick before checking in, but it was the perfect hotel to be in sick in. Room service brought over fresh fruit and there was a pharmacy and a Pho and a Ramen place within 5 mins. I want to go back and do touristy things, and I will stay at this hotel. The staff also helped me with a late checkout. Very helpful!

We enjoyed our stay at Hotel Colón. We had the pleasure of staying in the Cathedral Terrance suite with the beautiful view of Barcelona Cathedral. If you are up for spending the money it's worth it! The hotel is perfectly located within the Gothic Quarters with easy walking access to restaurants, bars, and attractions. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Rooms and common areas are very clean and well maintained.

What caused me to give 4 instead of 5 stars is because it was quite frustrating having to constantly be delayed with elevator service because they allow anyone to use the elevators to access the rooftop bar. There really should be an elevator dedicated specifically to hotel guests only. When you are paying $400+ a night for a room, you shouldn't have to wait for people who are going up to the rooftop to just take pictures. The paying customer should always come first. Also, the rooftop "bar" isn't really a bar and the service was not very good and lacked the basic cocktail options. It really is just for the views.
