Good and Bad. Good: 1. Location was good with subway right outside the front door and hotel was within walking distance of most things. 2. Good bakery right below hotel. 3. Room/hotel was quiet. On a busy street, but with closed window you could hear very little. This made it a little hot in the room, but they supplied us...

The hotel certainly has character, however you're only getting the basics here. The hotel is in a classic block which has been there for over a century. Room is cleaned daily, communal bathroom is cleaned regularly (shared between 5 rooms), small towels are provided for use. The rooms are hot constantly, however a fan is provided. The window is still...

Oh. Dear. Lord! This place was terrible! My son stayed there for 3 weeks. He left England a bright, happy normal young man. He has returned a broken shadow of humanity. Hot water was a long lost dream. Cleanliness a distant memory. Politeness a longed for luxury. I will work hard to bring him back up to an acceptable level...

The station for the metro is on your doorstep. There is everything you could need in the many 24hour shops located across the street. The beds are basic so ideal for people who don't really fuss with sleep Cute couple running the hotel who speak zero english so do be aware of that though they are very caring and thoughtful....

We had a double room in a usual Spanish appartement. It is not hostel-like but a proper home with one bathroom for the rooms in the appartments which are rented out to various people (short-term, long-term...). It is nice and clean, we even had a balcony in our room. The staff took really good care of us, we had contact...

Staying in El Raval

Neighbourhood Profile
El Raval
Once a downtrodden corner of downtown Barcelona, this gritty area has seen a cultural resurgence boasting an excellent nightlife and one of the most multi ethnic spots in the entire city. A sense of humble authenticity protrudes from the many independent record stores, second hand shops, and student bars that seem to light up the streets day and night. The rocking epicenter, the MACBA Plaça, is a modern day forum for bohemian youth, abuzz with the sights and sounds of late-night gatherings and talented skateboarders showing off their latest tricks.
