This was the most horrible travel experience I have ever had in over 30 years of travel! The picture looks nothing like the actual room which was absolutely disgusting. The place where you check in is just a dingy little store front off the street; we should have turned and ran at this point, but were exhausted after a long...

The people at the reception office near the Jaume I metro stop are amazing! The lady in the office, Juliana, is always very kind, competent and will to help with any situation. I have stayed in Barcelona many times and as soon as my plane lands the first thing that I do is go talk to Juliana. During this stay,...

We arrived at the apartment to be told they were full and we had a free upgrade to another apartment block which was quite some distance. We did get a free taxi transfer but we really didn't get any say about this. We chose AinB Gothic because that was the area we wanted. What a shame. Can't rate this apartment...

Reception and Nearly everyone we met were polite and helpful . Nice in a very busy working city. Walking took us to great places off tourist track..daytime advised as alleys in any city are dodgy in dark. City bus was amazing and stops nearby. Lots of free, reasonable places to visit. A few expensive places, personal preference on those. Pre-booking...

We booked this to go with an offer from Ryandare. It was exactly what we imagined - clean student type accommodation in the heart of the city. Don't expect five star for the price but the beds were clean and comfortable, staff were exceptionally friendly ( printed out our boarding passes for us)the bathroom was clean and modern but there...

An excellent hotel basic but a fantastic location with very friendly and helpful hotel staff. Just round the corner you can join a city walk or access the tube or an excellent Patisserie. For markets your a just 5 mins from La Rambla very happy and many thanks to AinB

Easy to check in and an amazing spot above one of our favourite wine bars in the city (Zim is a must!) We decided to add two additional nights and the staff were super accommodating (speaking French, Spanish and English) Barcelona is our home but when we can't make use of our own apartment this is the next best thing...

My family booked this apartment thinking that it would be a modern space in a great location. However, once we arrived at reception, we found out that the actual place was BLOCKS away, which was very inconvenient to reach with our suitcases. Also, when we arrived at the apartment, the key simply did not work! We had to try over...

Stayed here for a couple of nights in November with two other friends. Arrived in barcelona late about midnight, got a taxi which was around €30. When we got to the office it was closed but rang the number on the door and someone said they would be with us in 5 minutes. Ended up walking down some side streets,...

We booked this property (AinB Gothic-Juame I Apartments, Calle Jaume 1, 13, Ciutat Vella, 08002 Barcelona, Spain) based on the description on booking.com which described the accommodation as a modern apartment featuring stylish décor in a central location. The accommodation was said to be fitted with a kitchen, microwave and coffee maker which sounded perfectly suitable for me and my...

Staying in Barrio Gotico (Barri Gotic)

Neighbourhood Profile
Barrio Gotico (Barri Gotic)
With its iconic, old-Europe streets and alleys, this picturesque neighbourhood is the very heart of Barcelona. It blends historic artifacts from its days under Roman dominion up through the Spanish Civil War with a vibrant modern-day culture of artisan shops and authentic culinary experiences. Avid explorers will be thrilled to discover quaint terraces and plazas brought to life by the many small bars and local musicians lasting late into the night. Fashionistas will be drawn to Portal de L’Angel, which is lined with well-known brand names and smaller boutique stands.

“Barcelona is an amazing city. We loved every minute of our 1 week stay - we never stopped and perhaps saw only half of what there is to see. The Gothic quarter has to be experienced to be believed, recommend a trip to the Olympic Park and walk around the top of the "old bull ring" and of course the Sagrada Familia is an absolute must visit. Buy a ten trip Metro ticket and get around the city. The best recommendation I can give is that I will very definitely return”
