Amazing hotel located less than 10 minutes by car from the center of Segovia, very tasty breakfast and wonderful views on the city and its most famous monuments from the restaurant, lounge and room. Junior Suite very spacious and comfortable, very friendly staff. Would 100 % recommend this hotel.
This spacious hotel overlooks the old city of Segovia from the other side of a valley. The property is quite old, probably about 40 years, and although the common areas have stood the test of time and it is absolutely spotlessly clean, the rooms need an upgrade to justify the nightly rate. Obviously, because of the dreaded COVID, they have been stripped down to a minimum, which is fine. Everything works perfectly, but the bathroom was old fashioned and the decor is not up to modern standards. The breakfast service is run like a military operation to safeguard guest health. The products available on the breakfast buffet are of excellent quality. I am happy that I chose to stay there. There is plenty of parking and it is very convenient.
We arrived at the hotel Parador Segovia at lunch time for a single night visit. Family of four, we’d booked two rooms. The room was nice but had no tee/coffee making facility. Having checked in we immediately went to the restaurant and asked for a table. The head waiter was abrupt when we told him we didn’t have a reservation... as if we’d done something seriously wrong and he told us we’d have to wait. We noticed a free table which was set and ready to be used but we would have to wait. We waited about 10 minutes and were then shown to the same empty table. After lunch we decided to go for a swim in the indoor pool (it was raining outside). The pool was empty, a lone pool man sitting in a seat in the corner... when we asked the temperature he again was abrupt.. 20 degrees he brusquely shouted to us, we left, no swim. We then decided to go to the bar for a drink but due to Covid there was a barrier asking us to wait to be seated. But we could see no barman behind the bar and there were plenty of empty seats. After a while a queue gathered behind us. Finally a barman appeared, he looked at the queue and proceeded to chop up some lemons ignoring us! We would clearly have to wait. My wife, who is always very polite walked over to ask the barman if we needed to wait to be seated, he curtly stated YES. My wife mentioned that we’d already waited 5 minutes and asked how long more it would be. He actually shrugged and snapped “however”. We went immediately to the receptionist to complain. She was kind but admitted the manager wasn’t available. Considering the amount of money we were spending, more typical of a 5* cost, we were very disappointed and while we would always try to support tourism in Spain, our home country, we are unlikely to ever choose Parador again. …
Have stayed in 'Parador' before and due to the 'Covid 19' the hotel was almost empty and closed down the day we left but all the staff were excellent considering their situation. Will certainly be back next year WHEN the pandemic is over. Keep safe everyone.
Fantastic views across Segovia. Warm and welcoming staff. Good restaurant. Comfortable common areas. A shuttle into Segovia or a walking path map would be helpful but taxi is only €6. Lots to see in the city.
