As a solo traveller I arranged my stay at Asa Wright for a week through Caligo. Every aspect of this holiday was beyond my expectations. I'm a photographer and the opportunities for great shots never ended. I literally got a shot of a Caracara at the airport. Mukesh was my guide and thanks to him I saw every bird I...

This lodge is fantastic for birders and naturalists. You will not find fancy 5-star accomadations, but the rooms are clean and comfortable. The dining room is open air to the gorgeous surroundings, and we enjoyed sitting with other guests - we made new friends here and met some fascinating people from around the world. We took the independent birders venture...

Our ten days at Asa Wright were extremely enjoyable. A paradise for birders! We hiked difficult trails, and ended up in much better physical condition than when we arrived! The guides are topnotch. We had Mukesh, Rudell, Dave, Charen, and Barry (sp). We feel Barry is a rising star in the guiding world. Not only is he personable and knowledgeable...

Three of us recently stayed here in February 2016. Our rooms were basic but perfectly comfortable if a little old- fashioned. We had plenty of hot water and a sun room in addition to our bedrooms- great for drying our clothes. We are not birders but the range of fascinating birds seen from the balcony and around the grounds is...

As many other reviewers state, this is primarily a birder's destination. We booked a combined Trinidad-Tobago trip through Caligo Ventures and were a bit concerned that four nights at Asa Wright might be too much. We are only casual birders but avid nature photographers. As it turned out four nights was the perfect amount of time to spend with all...

This ex coffee plantation is now a great place on Trinidad to use as a base for birding. The main house has a fantastic veranda where Hummingbirds abound, some supplemental feeding attracts other tropical birds as well. The forest walks are great for spotting bell birds, manakin, hummingbirds, motmot and trogon amongst others. The bungalow type accommodation is a bit...

Asa Wright is legendary as a birding location. The grounds are wonderful, the staff both employed and freelance are excellent and really know their birds, our trips out to Caroni and Nariva were both great. As a birding experience it was in a class of it's own. However, the accommodation and ancillary facilities are showing their age and could do...

We spent four nights at Asa Wright which gave us three full days. We were able to enjoy two guided hikes on site as well as a few self-guided. We also took the Caroni Swamp tour which is worth the trip. The guides are very knowledgeable and friendly. The veranda is a great place to watch a wide variety of...

I stayed here in November for 5 nights with my partner who is an avid birder and I not so much. By the end of the stay I was a birding convert! How could you not be with such magnificent birds, mammals, insects, arachnids and the amazing flora and fauna around!! The on tap guides were wonderful and took us...

When researching our Trinidad & Tobago birding trip, we read several reviews of AWNC here on TripAdvisor. Most of the reviews by birders were spot on about how great the bird watching is, but there were many reviews by non-birders which were complaining about nothing to do. Bottom line is that this is a destination for birders and if you...
