I agree that a taxi is the best option.
We checked out of the hotel and went into Palma for a meal as our flight was early evening and then got another taxi to the airport.

Sorry for the late response.....I have been away (again!). No idea about the place out of season (or weather either I'm afraid). There is certainly plenty to do around Palma.
