Can’t say enough about how good this place is. From the wonderful warm welcome to the spotlessly clean accomodation. This couple really know how to look after their guests.we were treated like family. The breakfasts were so good with the freshly ground coffee and the squeezed orange juice. We also loved our funny conversations with Jesus( forgive me if I got his name wrong) He speaks basque and us English , but we had great chats. Ask to see photo’s of the construction of the house. He is gifted. Thankyou Ines for all of your best wishes and goodbye hugs. How to top off 7 weeks travelling Spain. We will miss you and Thankyou so much for helping us retrieve our forgotten bag. Just got back from our stay at Kanpoeder, great place to stay on outskirts of San Sebastián with lovely views over the countryside. Ines and farie the owners are lovely and made us very welcome. Ines has a great knowledge of the area and gave us lots of great advice where to go, where to park etc which was really useful. Rooms are lovely, well kept and breakfast though simple was good...freshly squeezed orange juice, lashings of toast with various jams etc and fresh coffee which was topped up. Ines speaks English well, her hubby doesn't but we got chatting using a translator ap( he speaks basque) and pointing etc ...very interesting and lovely man, a carpenter by trade and they built Kanpoeder themselves finishing it in 2001! Probably would need a hire car to stay here, up a steep winding road but well worth it and it's not far at all to drive into the centre of San Sebastián ( great place to visit!) Highly recommend staying here and if we ever visit again, this is where we will return to!

Only 2 km from the town - but a world away from the hustle and bustle. San Sebastian was really accessible. A short drive and cheap parking behind Mirimar Park (Ines will provide all the directions and advice you need). From there we were able to walk around Ondaretta Bay and also take the Funicular for excellent views of the area. We then followed the bay around to the Old Town and Gros. San Sebastian feels really safe and is really easy to get around on foot. It was a real pleasure to wander the narrow streets of the Old Town. When you day is done, a short and simple drive back to Kanpoeder and relative tranquility. No TV - which was nice - just the peace and quiet of the room. To top it all parking and a simple breakfast is included on the rate - enough to start the day! The only thing to be careful about is finding it in the first place! But, once you do it's obviously easy to do it again!!
