Generally we are not hotel people and we far prefer self catering but have to say this hotel really surpassed all expectations. First a bit of background, originally booked and paid for 3 nights in 2019 but had to cancel due to family bereavement. With the sudden onset of Covid and the ensuing madness, we exchanged a few emails with reservations and they were very happy to honour the reservation for a full 2 years, hence the December trip this year as 1st opportunity to travel safely... So to the experience itself.. Completely faultless. The hotel was obviously quiet due to the time of year and the continued covid effect, but that was definitely to our advantage. The staff were consequently not super busy which meant they had that extra bit of time time be all wonderful and attentive and friendly to us and it made such a difference. Really pleasant, especially at breakfast which was faultless on all 3 mornings. We did upgrade to a Guggenheim view room as an additional treat and it was really worth the extra few quid and on top of all that we had the fab wellness spa and gym to ourselves on both occasions we used it. Bizarrely it rained constantly for the entire 3 days in Bilbao, but between the hotel experience and the wider and truly fabulous and exceptionally affordable food and wonderful friendly hospitality of practically every spot we visited, it was one of the best city breaks we've ever had. Can't wait to go back. Hasta la vista Bilbao and thank you Gran Domine.

The draw here is obviously the Guggenheim. You’re crazy if you stay here & don’t get a room facing the museum! It is an impressive view. We got a package that included tickets. (Don’t overlook the quirky Fine Arts museum just two blocks away.) The staff is friendly and helpful. The hotel itself is very comfortable! The rooms are spacious and there are nice amenities. The decor is modern but not at all cold. The bed was comfortable, with two pillows. Breakfast, on the top floor veranda facing the museum, is well worth the price. The breakfast staff was very gracious and efficient and there was a wide array of foods available, including hot foods to order. And although convenient to the Guggenheim, the hotel is actually about a 15 minute walk from the new town restaurant and bar area, and a 20 minute walk from the old city, but the walk is easy and pleasant. As a hotel, forgetting the museum, this one is very nice!

We recently stayed at the Hotel Domine in conjunction with a business conference. The hotel is beautiful - gorgeous design, and fantastic location directly across from the Guggenheim. Everything about our stay was top notch - the service, the spaciousness of the rooms, the cleanliness, breakfast - all highly recommended. When we return to Bilbao, Hotel Domine will be our number one choice for accommodation.

I booked for April 2020 and it was suddenly closed. I asked for a refund of my (100%) prepayment and it was promised. But then nothing happened. Until now I didn't receive a penny. Mr. Gutierrez (Director) first promised I would get my money back, when he has got it from banks!!. Now he doesn't even answer any more. Be careful with any prepayment!!! You'll give a credit to an obviously bad debtor!!

We stayed here 2 years ago and enjoyed it just as much this time around. The fancy restaurant, cafe and bar on the ground floor were all closed this time, I assume because of covid. However, on this occasion the roof top terrace acted as restaurant, cafe and bar, so we didn't feel we had missed out on service and the view from up there is wonderful. As before the staff were all friendly and efficient and our room was clean and comfortable. Great value for money and the location opposite the Guggenheim can't be beat. Recommended
