La Estrella Ostatu is very well situated in the old town of Bilbao. 2 minutes from the Casco Viejo train and metro station, 5 minutes from the Abando station, close to the Ribera market and not far away from the city center. Rooms are cheap, clean and good, but unfortunately a bit noisy. Not the noise from the street but from other rooms. Breakfast is good and costs only 4 euros. Friendly staff.
This hotel is very centrally located. Close to most restaurants, bars, café shops, was very convenient. Our welcome however was not very unpleasant. We arrived early, fully aware that we couldnt check in. The elderly man at the reception basically threw us out the hotel and told us to come back later that day. He was not friendly AT ALL during our stay. They serve a small breakfast. We did not take as we were Close so many cafés etc. (we wanted to hang Basque of course). The room was clean, No a/c, was very hot during the night. Many mosquitoes once windows were open. Fan was provided -didnt help much. The bathroom was spacious- not minst amneties so so NOT depend on that. Had towels etc. Maids were very friendly. The hotel has not elevator, not handicap friendly. Good for a Night or 2. Recommendation- take room toward the back of the house-the front rooms rest on the Wallingatan street and can become very noisy. …
Stayed here for 2 nights on our way to the Picos Mountains. Ideal location for the metro which was just across the square, also plenty of eating places where we enjoyed the local pintos, gosh what an amazing assortment was to be had. We will definitely return to this B&B it was friendly and really clean.
Both my wife and I really enjoyed our time in Bilbao and are glad we stayed in the “Old Town” area even though we walked a lot of both the old and new town areas. The Pension we stayed at had a very good location in the middle of Old Town. The room we got was average. Not overly large and was at the front of the hotel. We didn’t experience a problem with street noise but maybe we were just lucky. Again we experienced a common issue we had in Spain and got two twin beds even though we requested a room with a single double bed when we booked. This issue haunted us throughout this trip so was not just an issue here. The room was a little dated and could use a refresh. We had our breakfast daily at the Pension. The breakfast was adequate but was the very same every day. The location is really the selling point here as you are close to all the “Old Town” has to offer and can walk to all the other sights in Bilbao.…
Ideal situation in the middle of the Old Town opposite a very good unassuming museum and plenty of excellent eateries close by. Price good, rooms basic but adequate and comfortable, all towels changed and beds remade, again only sleeping, not moving in. Breakfast available but didn't try as wanted to explore. Very Good.
