I stayed at Lo Bilbao for 5 nights, right in the middle of the Bilbao Festival. This place is in a lovely square in the beautiful Old City, with plenty of food options. It's a 20 minute or so very pkeasant walk along the river to the Guggenheim Museum. I had the only single room. It is small and has no windows, but the no windows turned out to be a plus as I could barely hear the noise of the festivities. And there was plenty of noise! The room is very clean. The only negative is that the wifi cut out regularly.

The rooms are nice and the beds very comfortable. The location is fantastic from the point of view that it’s right in the city centre, BUT it’s very noisy. One might say that if you want to stay in the city centre of a city, it is going to be noisy. But perhaps the windows could be triple glazed? I must also say that I am a light sleeper ( although my friends are not and they had the same problem). So make your own conclusion of this review! Sorry it’s not very clear!!

Next to Plaza Nuevo in Casco Viejo. I arrived with the bus from the airport. I got off in the centre: Plaza Moyua. From there it is a straight line walking to Casco Viejo; about 10-15 minutes. At Lo Bilbao there is no reception, but you will receive a code to enter the building and your room. You also receive the password for Wifi before. if you have any questions, you can contact the owner. The communication is smooth. The room was beautiful and everything was clean and fine. Breakfast is included: You will receive a breakfast voucher which you can spend at two places in Casco Viejo. You can choose yourself which one you would like to go. Conclusion: Very nice stay in the best part of town. I would definitely go there again!

b&b in bilbao old town; next to plaza nuevo, metro, in the middle of old town; due to this it can be noisy on weekend nights; be aware that this place hasn't a reception or breakfast onsite - more airbnb - rooms with code locking system as front door downstairs; large double room was small with 2 beds but together as "double bed", no cabinet, bathroom/toilet seperated only by glaswall with nearly no privacy, air condition blowing directly to face if u lay on bed, reading lights at the bed are very cold bright lights, noise Isolation isn't optimal - u can here your neighbours in other rooms,... Conclusio: for coming to party on weekend and stay nearby it seems to be perfect

Maybe in the future all city hotels will be small with just a few rooms. This means that the taxi driver won't know where it is.Their satnav will take them close, but not to the door because it's in a pedestrianized street. It's still hard to find because there's no signage on the door, but friendly locals, used to tourists looking lost, will guide you in the right direction. You enter the code you were given into the large keypad and push the door (hard) to enter. Take the lift to the first floor, enter the code again, and once more to enter your room. This does away with the need for a reception, and you may well never meet anyone from the hotel. If you're not used to the future you might by now be wondering what you've let yourself in for, but you'll be reassured when you see that your room is clean, modern and well appointed. In your room is a voucher for one of two local cafes for breakfast. You choose according to what time you want it. If it's 10 - 12, it will be the Victor Montes, a minute's walk away in Plaza Nueva. There are three choices: a cooked choice with either fried or scrambled eggs, toast and orange juice; pintxos; or a healthy option of muesli with yoghurt and toast. The quality is good. The hotel is well located, near the old quarter, but this does mean you may hear some street noise. When I think of a "luxury" hotel, Lo Bilbao isn't the sort of place I have in mind, but it's a perfectly good place to stay and enjoy the city, and may well be the future

This brand new, modern, luxurious pension had the look, comfort and warm welcome for me and my sister. Since they are not a full service hotel they offer breakfast in two nearby restaurants which gives you the opportunity to experience at least one of the absolutely amazing place at Plaza Nuovo, "Victor Montes".
