Loved this little place which is central to many bars and restaurants. The room was good and had lovely little amenity kits left out. The bed wasn’t amazing but this was more than made up for by the service. We loved the free breakfast the next day with fresh orange juice, yogurt etc. They give a code for after hours access. I recommend this place for Bilbao trips.
Summer travelers be warned: There's no air conditioning, and the rooms are one floor above a very noisy, smoke-filled pedestrian street with numerous bars so sleeping with windows open is not an option. The doors are great at muffling sound when closed, but rooms become stifling very quickly even with the provided fan. Cute and walkable historic neighborhood, but definitely a bar scene atmosphere -- noisy even on a Sunday night. Rooms are decorated with charm and very clean; breakfast was fine. It was somewhat budget-friendly since it included breakfast, but in hindsight I wish I'd paid more and stayed elsewhere. Won't be back.
7kale B&B I would thoroughly recommend. We, 10 guys, on a hiking trip to the countryside around Bilbao stopped for 4 nights. Sharing twin rooms we had no issues with the standard of facilities, breakfast was adequate and served on time and the rooms maintained to a good standard with fresh towels daily. On our departure this morning the B&B ran an early breakfast for us and arranged 3 taxis to take us to the airport. We found no noise pollution from the surrounding area despite the lively activities encroached into the rooms. The B&B is surrounded by bars and restaurants so if you like formal dining or beer, tapas and Pintxos (which we did) you are well catered for. The food market which is an excellent place for lunch is only some 500m away along the river. The walk to the Guggenheim is not long or strenuous and enjoyable along the river. The football stadium also runs excellent tours and is again an easy walk. The main railway station, metro and tram stops are all easy walking distances away. I would say the bus from the airport at €3 is very good value but a 20 min walk to the hotel. Taxis we paid today was €28 ( from hotel to airport). After 3 days hiking the walk for a bus with luggage was a step too far (pun intended)…
We usually stay in larger hotels but our six days at the 7Kale were just as nice as at a more expensive hotel. The B&B is in a great location on the calle Santa Maria. The river is one block away so we took advantage of a nice day and walked along it to the Guggenheim Museum. There are several nice restaurants on the streets surrounding the B&B and, of course, many pintxos bars. The famous Plaza Nueva is a ten minute's walk away and both the tram line and public bus lines are close by. The rooms at the B&B are large enough so that two people will not feel cramped but the bathroom in out room, #7, was small. The people who clean and rearrange the rooms do a great job and it was a pleasure to return to the room at the end of a day. There is a breakfast buffet served each morning with meat and cheese and a variety of pastries and dry cereal. This room is available 24/7 and we went there to make tea in the evening. We hope to return to Bilbao in the future and when we do we'll stay again at the 7Kale.…
Saturday night was loud from the street bars, the rest of the nights were quiet. Person at reception was exceptional, friendly and helpful. Room was nice and clean. Breakfast was OK, there was coffee and tea available all day.
Great location . Lovely, friendly and very helpful staff . Very clean great rooms . Breakfast with freshly squeezed orange juice a nice treat, free tea and coffee jurying the day .We were there in September 2018 and thoroughly enjoyed it.
Wonderful homely little hotel on a cobbled street in Bilboa. Breakfast included. Great location with easy access to the tram to explore Bilboa. About 25 minutes walk to the main bus station or 15 minutes on the metro. Would definitely stay here again.
Pretty disappointed to arrive to a full construction zone in the lobby with only an email warning the day before we stayed! They are installing a lift and there were workmen everywhere, uplifted floors.. the works! We had a very brief intro to our room, we were not given wifi password, shown where our toilet was or told any details about breakfast or checking out. Had asked reception for a recommendation for a tour we were looking at booking and they said they would have a look the day we arrived as they didn’t have information on that to help us (we were only there for 2 days so booking the day of was useless)! We had better wifi reception at the tram stop. It gets very noisy late at night as you are in the center of old town and the restaurants and shops around close and clean till around midnight. The breakfast was average and had we stayed longer we would have opted to go to the shop across the street and buy it. In saying all of this.. if you aren’t a light sleeper and can get past the average reception to the place this is in a perfect location for exploring the city.…
Location is very good for those that want to stay in the Old Town of Bilbao. Breakfast adequate but fresh orange juice was good. Fresh, nicely designed decor Friendly staff Difficult to get a good night's sleep. Bedroom on street was opposite refuse bins that were emptied at all hours of the night/early morning. ( Ear plugs were provided by guest house but not sufficient to deaden sound) Crashing of bottles became beyond irritating.
After 2 nights in this place I can really say that this is the perfect solution if you want to feel like a local for a couple of days. You will live the atmosphere of the city centre in the evening and the nights, together with the people happily dining in the ancient streets of Bilbao. This could be a problem if you like to sleep early but really an experience if you don't. Of course there are some logistic issues because you cannot reach the B&B with the car but a good trolley can fix the problem and you can simply walk for 500 meters from the nearest public parking. The room was well equipped with modern furniture, clean, and not so hot (but there is no air conditioned so this could be an issue if the outside temperature is above 30 degrees). The bathroom is a bit too small. The breakfast is within the standards nothing special and nothing to complain about.…
