Disappointed in Gijon We reserved 2 rooms for 3 nights. The lady at the reception desk was rude; our reservation was made several months ago and requested double bed. It so happens the this hotel has ONLY four rooms with double beds. If they had informed us when we reserved we would have changed hotels. When we got our rooms one had heavy smell of cigarettes and in the other the AC did not work. They gave us new rooms that were OK but also with twin beds. The service and the food at the restaurant and bar was excellent.
We came to Gijón after visiting San Sebastián for four nights, also stayed there at an NH Hotel. I have always been attached NH elsewhere, that probably makes my experience even worse. On arrival quite slow reception. The beds in our room were two singles despite double room request. It would be acceptable, but they were moving, brakes on their wheels didn’t help on slippery laminate floor. Poor bedding, cheap, very used pillows. Dust on bedside table, no basic welcome water, no tea/coffee facilities in room. Certainly not 4 stars what they would like to be. Flooding shower, poor working air conditioning. On the other night we were woken up around 23:30 by the noise in the corridor next to our room. I called the reception and asked for help. Initially they said they could do nothing for the noise from outdoor street or roof. I explained what is happening behind my door. They said sorry and suggested me calling the police. Sorry, is it a motel or 4* hotel? Eventually I went out to find the group of young people, we managed to negotiate their leaving peacefully, but you know it is a very dangerous scenario. The worst NH hotel in the world. The last year stayed at ABBA de Playa Gijón , was amazing experience all was 5 stars worthy. Tried NH because of higher tripadvisor rank. Don’t repeat my mistakes! …
I thought this location was going to be like the other NH we’ve stayed at but it’s not. Its just your ordinary hotel. Good rooms, bed and showers and very clean, but it lacks good lighting and space. Rooms are a bit crowded. AC is a plus for hot summer months. The restaurant for breakfast is expensive! Go down the block for a real Spanish breakfast. The self parking garage is convenient but super expensive. The internet is terrible too. If all you want is Beach, this is a very good location, but if you want to feel like your in Asturias, well, not that much.
The hotel is extremely well located next to the sea. On arrival I was awared an even larger quite relaxing room. The bed is excellent and made recovery during the night easier. The breakfast buffet is quite rich with high quality food. A large underground parking is available.
Good business hotel conveniently located close to the Gijon seaside. You get what you can expect from a well-know 4star hotel chain: spacious rooms, recently-renovated facilities, rich continental breakfast. Location is endearing, yet there are few amenities in the area nearby, and downtown is a long walk away. Hotel has a parking and it charges for it.
