Good location, good price, very large room (superior double). The bed was good, the room was clean and well looked after. The room was on the first floor, street facing, there was some noise but not out of the ordinary, the street is one way and not that busy. Breakfast was pure buffet, with limited selection, a cold collation, not something that would put a spring into the first step of the morning.. There is no tv in the room or safe or fridge (you can use the reception for the latter two). There are also no facilities for making a coffee or tea during the day (buy out and bring in). There is a Carrefour express not far away, and a couple of mini markets quite close if you want basic provisions. The staff were good, very welcoming and helpful.
This hotel has a quiet central patio with fountain and is only a couple of hundred metres from the cathedral. The beds are an excellent size with good mattresses and linen. Thoroughly recommended for location and value. (Buffet Breakfast cheaper and good value if booked ahead, taken in elegant room.)
On a whole it is average, but the location and price is what stands out. The only serious bad thing really were the noise levels from a group of loud-mouth Americans next door and on the same landing which they took over, and could even hear reception and others shushing them but doing nothing about it. Again, no tv in the room, floors that were uneven and noisy plumbing, so could hear everything. Place may be very old, but needs some soundproofing immediately. For a cheap stay, it does the business so I cannot review it badly.
Wonderful 300 year old mansion just near the cathedral. Superior room was quite big with lots of room in the closets. No tv and fridge in the room but it didn't matter. Wifi and ac worked ok. The room needs some renovation. Breakfast was good enough. The staff was very friendly and helpful.
Charming old hotel in EASY walking distance to Cathedral and Palace. Sparkling clean room at reasonable price. Lovely antique furniture and mirrors everywhere. Central atrium with fountain, where guests seemed to congregate. Friendly desk employees. Quiet room with good mattress. So glad that my friend found this place online. If you want a new hotel, look elsewhere. But if you want the heritage of a 200 year old home turned hotel, Hotel Simon is for you!
