How delighted we were when we came across this hotel when heading for the Alhambra café. What a lovely courtyard setting within the hotel, really good coffee and great service from elderly waiter. Was like stepping back in time. Highly recommend.

Hotel's Favourite
We made the mistake of booking into the Parador de Granada - missold a Superior Room at 450 Euros a night. Beware of misrepresantaion on their website! We were not permitted to use the terrace (one of the 'exclusive opportunities' offered by the Parador) so wandered out to find somewhere outside for a beer. 100m away is Hotel America. We wandered into their atrium to a friendly greeting and a happy buzz of internatianl tourists enjoying lunch and were quickly shown to a table ordering been and tapas. The service was quick and friendly. The next day having had a superb private tour of The Alhambra, we returned to Hotel America for refreshment - we were welcomed by the delightful Angelo as old friends and regular customers. A table was found for us very quickly - so good we returned for brekfast the next morning. Hotel America is in the heart of Alhambra. We subsequently looked at the characterful rooms and are absolutely sure that is where we will stay when we return - for character, individuality, friendly personal service.

This hotel is ideally located in the grounds of the Alhambra. We travelled with my 80 year old mother in law for her special birthday. We were very welcome, lovely service and host called Judit who was very funny and nothing was too much trouble for her. The bed was the most comfortable bed I have ever slept in. I can honestly say that this hotel is definitely a unique little gem! If you are worrying about the 1 star please don’t, the hotel is authentic and full of charm.

We chose hotel as it had valet parking on its website and I struggle to walk long distances. However after booking though Hotels.com we found that there was no valet parking! I spoke to the hotel direct and a very nice lady cancelled our booking. I did say they should amend their web site and got a laugh and “yes we should”

My husband and I stayed in the Parador just across the square - a soulless and deeply disappointing experience. Thank heavens for Angelo and the team at Hotel America. We popped in at all times of day and were greeted warmly each time. Lovely tapas, great breakfast, lovely drinks, all served in a delightful and very authentic courtyard. We wished we had stayed here for a fraction of the price of the parador and will do next time! Gracias, Angelo.

This may be the only official one star hotel we have stayed but that doesn’t mean it’s not good. The location within the Alhambra precinct is without equal for visiting the palaces etc. The rooms are simple but adequate. The food is good value and generally traditional. The staff are enthusiastic and try to assist wherever possible despite being very busy with high numbers of cafe visitors. The Parador restaurant is 40 metres walk if a more glamorous meal is required. If you are happy with a slightly quirky place to stay with realistic pricing this is a good place to stay

We boarded the AVE bullet train (+170 mph) from Madrid Atocha station to Granada, arriving in just over 3 hours. We stayed at Hotel America, a quaint, old-time hotel. No TV, little glamor, but a friendly staff, working air conditioning (which we needed in 90-degree late September), and a wonderful location on the Alhambra grounds. We had easy access to the Alcazaba, Charles V Palace, Alhambra, and Generalife Gardens. We elected to use a taxi to go down into town for one of our trips, but you will get plenty of walking in just around the grounds.

Booked this one star hotel within the walls of the Citadel without too much hope of a great stay - how wrong. This is a small, welcoming place, perfect for the Alhambra, where the staff and the history make you feel so at home and truly make up for the lack of big hotel facilities. Thanks to all the staff but especially Juan who was so informative and helpful. We will be back

Small hotel with a great location and terrific staff. Rooms are a bit small and old but very clean. Easy down hill walk into the old part of the city of Granada. We enjoyed staying so close to the Alhambra.

This charming vintage hotel is conveniently located on the grounds of the Alhambra. The staff in this family run hotel is very helpful and kind. Our room was small, but adequate and we enjoyed our stay very much. There is a nice little courtyard for breakfast and afternoon copas. Be aware that the building is quite old, so there are no elevators. It may not be for people used to 4 star service, but we enjoyed it.
