A little tricky to find but good outdoor parking, spacious rooms and friendly staff. Probable crowded in the summer and wristbands instead of keys. Evening buffet had good, hot food and breakfast also provided plenty of choices. Right on the waterfront with cafes etc around. Would definitely recommend it.
Fabulous 3 star. I was so worried about the food after reading some reviews However,it was amazing! There wasn't a large range, but everything was so tasty and cooked very well. If you are a pie chips and beans person, then you will say the food is awful but if you like quality home cooked Spanish food, then it's great! The rooftop bar is to die for! all the staff are very friendly. Rooms are great. Definitely upgrade to the sunny side/harbour view. Right on the beach. Honestly, please do not hesitate on booking this hotel, it was better than the 4 star in Fuerteventura I was at recently! I would definitely return!
Second visit to La Barracuda. Great position on the sea front plus we asked for an upgrade to a pool view as you get the sun most of the day Roof top bar didnt open till 1st April Breakfast was fine nothing fancy but we always enjoyed it. We arrived just after the Calima sand storm which left everything in a mess but everyone worked hard to clear the mess up
Whilst we found the staff very helpful before we arrived when asking for room upgrades and some additional “treats” for her indoors birthday we felt the hotel was lacking that little bit. Rooms while spacious and cleaned everyday were dated. The roof top bar is a big plus however avoid the restaurant, where they get some of that offering from beggars belief. Great for a room only stay and enjoy the roof top bar, pool bar also a decent offering if u can stand wrinkly dancing!!!😳🤣
Where do I start….One good thing that this hotel has is that it’s location is right on the beach front. The hotel is extremely dated and the general cleanliness isn’t much better. The food was horrendous, I mean absolutely dreadful. We paid for half board and during the 5 nights we were there we went down to breakfast and dinner twice. Trust me when I say do not pay for half board, it is a waste of money. The staff were friendly enough, there was a very decent waiter in the pool bar that will look after you. On the whole a very very disappointing impression and one that stayed with you during the whole time we were here.
I have stayed at the Hotel on quite a few occasions, I always book direct with the Hotel, and they always treat me well, I had requested a room on the 4th floor on the sea view side , I was half board and find the food fine it is for a European guests, and I think too many English guests are very fussy eaters , I was treated very well by all the staff , and drink prices are very reasonable, I will definitely return
Good points - excellent location. Short walk to Benalmadena and a relatively easy walk to Torremolinos. Upgrade to pool/marina view if you’re staying for more than a weekend, sun all day from that side. Rooms are a good size, beds exceptionally comfortable. Rooms and bathrooms cleaned daily although we did have to chase towels a couple of days but no drama. Didn’t use the bar/pool/entertainment so can’t comment. Bad points. The. Food. Is. Diabolical. We aren’t particularly fussy and can find something in any buffet. This hotel however is an exception to my hard and fast rule. Breakfast isn’t too bad but it’s not great either. Staff - most of them are really lovely. One waiter in the restaurant really spoiled our holiday. Drinks at the table - we were advised first night to just settle at reception, which we did every other day or so. One evening we were chased by a waiter yelling that we’d not signed our bill. We’d never signed our bill as we’d not been asked to, ever. We’d had 2 bottles of water €2; this guy acted like we’d stolen the hotel in a hostile takeover! We complained to reception and he followed us - still yelling in Spanish. It was extremely embarrassing and we never set foot in the restaurant again. He gave us dirty looks every time we passed by. This guy shouldn’t be customer facing in any organisation - let alone a venue where people are supposed to be enjoying their holiday. Covid safe - not great. Waiters didn’t do anything to stop those not wearing masks walking around the restaurant and the rules were very much in place at the time we were there. So if you want a great location with potential sun all day on a balcony in a budget hotel - great shout. But don’t do anything more than B&B and manage your expectations accordingly.…
Stayed here for 10 days at end of February 2022. Hotel room was clean but old and the bathroom was out of the 1960's. We opted for half board and whilst the breakfasts were ok, the dinners were a total disgrace - poor quality, limied range and cool hot meals. We would not stay there again, there are much better hotels in the vicinity.
Staying in La Barracuda for an 8 day break. The hotel is located right on the promenade with some wonderful sea views from the balconies. A real pity that the rooftop bar and deck area are closed at the moment. I've read a lot of negative comments from other guests about the buffet breakfast. I can only say that from my own experience nothing could be further from the truth. The staff are helpful and efficient. The location offers nice views of the pool area. The selection and variety of the breakfast buffet is really great. The choice of sausage, bacon, puddings, mushrooms beans, eggs (scrambled fried boiled) hash browns were nice and always hot. The cold breakfast buffet was equally nice with a selection of cold meats and cheeses. There is also a good selection of breads and pastries, cereals fruit and yogurt and I think 12 different coffee choices and tea. Something for everyone. The reception staff were also helpful and pleasant. You can hire a kettle, hairdryer and safe box from reception. All for about €2 a day each. There is a deposit which is returned at the end of your stay. The safe boxes are in a room in the foyer and not in your room. The pool area is large with plenty of fixed parasols and loungers and chairs. The pool is cold March. We haven't booked the full package because we like to dine out in the evenings so we can't comment on the dinner menu. The dinning room looks busy in the evenings. The rooms are an ok size. The beds are comfortable with extra pillows and blankets if required. The showers are hot with very good water pressure. There is also a small selection of toiletries. The aircon is very efficient. The TV has a selection of English speaking channels. There is also a good fridge in every room. Overall it's a nice place to stay and deserving of it's 3 stars ⭐⭐⭐. Good value for money …
myself and wife here 3/3/22- 10/3/22 . Hotel clean and well decorated . Room 702 had pool view as per many photos on here . 5 - 10 minute walk to Benalmedina . great position on promenade/ beach front . local bars and shops close by . bus stop on next street up . Sadly a lot of the business have suffered due to pandemic and some are still closed. there were not many people at the hotel and so no atmosphere in bar and for the 2 nights entertainment . I dont think this is the hotels fault but the whole place needs more tourists to spark it up . breakfast standard choices , meats /cheeses , cereal/fruit, egg bacon sausage. decent fair to start the day but evening meals lacked flair and not really appetising . usual salad/soup /meat cheese offerings but main course not great . I hate to knock the hotel but the evening meals were not up to standard for me and I am easily pleased. went out for Chinese meal midweek and that was a good decision . views are my own and fair I think. 3 star hotel is about right . hope things improve for the hotel and towns…
