Detailed Reviews

Great location, very close to lively bars and restaurants. Also very close to the gay bars and clubs which were really busy, so there was some street noise. The lady on reception was very helpful and friendly. The hotel is currently only open during the weekends. This means that if you want to stay during the weekend & then a weekday, you have to switch rooms to a separate building. The room we had was in the main hotel for just 1 night and then we moved to a different hotel. The room was quite dated, dark and we had no hot water when we checked out. The man in reception when we checked wasn't as helpful and was very keen that the hotel must close at midday on Sunday - not very practical. The cleaner also came knocking at 12:04pm pointing ot her watch, so we definitely got the message. It's a shame as its a great location but the hotel could be improved.

El Pozo Hotel is in a great location and is close to the train station if you are travelling by train from Malaga airport. It's in a busy part of Torremolinos with everything you need on your doorstep. It's a 'steep' walk to the beach but a public lift is close by and it only costs 50 cents each. The bus to Malaga is close by and you must pay a visit to this lovely city. The hotel is spotless and towels are changed every day ....... have to say the bed was the most comfortable I've ever slept in in a hotel. Try the Hotel El Pozo and you won't be disappointed.

We stayed here last night, we knew we would be arriving late so we needed somewhere handy from the airport. It was perfect for our needs we arrived after ten and were greeted by a guy on the reception who dealt with the booking in and in no time we had our room. The room was spotless and very comfortable. It was a shame that we weren’t staying longer. We did not book breakfast as there are loads of places local in fact outside the front door is a cracking bar. The hotel is a great location for the centre and only five minutes from the station. It’s one that we would visit again.

Fantastic hotel. Ideal location, very central, but well isolated from noise. If you are looking for a beach nearby, there is an elevator that will save you the hills. Many restaurants and shops nearby.
Fantastic staff attention.

Stayed for a week, room basic but clean a problem with the bathroom door dealt with as soon as we reported it. There was a smell from the drains but opening the windows cleared that, sometimes the water could have been hotter but it was never cold. Great location which at times made it noisy not a problem for us. Staff very helpful and friendly overall a very good hotel, would stay here again

The Hotel El Pozo, probably noisy during the summer months due to its proximity to the main square, but for a break in the early part of the year it is ideal.
The hotel is within a comfortable walking distance of the restaurants, I recomend Johannas just farther down the street towards Benelmadina and the Pozo Italian Restaraunt across the courtyard, it is also close to the bodegas, bodegans and shops of central Torremolinos.
There is a lift within a distance of 300 meteres that enables you to miss the steps from end of the San Miguel to the promenade. Make sure that you don't miss the French restuarant tucked away in a little side street on your left as you make your way from the lift to the promenade, during the early part of the year it is a popular haunt of American and Northern European visitors.
Your room is cleaned and serviced every day with fresh bedding and towels etc. The staff are friendlyand helpful, the prices for snacks and drinks excellent and the hotel exudes an air of homeliness and detached relaxation.

The Pozo Hotel is a basic but relatively comfortable hotel and is very good value for money. The hotel comes recommended to me by friends who know Torremolinos (and I myself have holidayed in Torremolinos for 12 years). Rooms are functional and the AC works well. Our main mattress could do with an update and our room was a bit noisy but the hotel is very central and close to the main shops, supermarkets and 5 min walk to the beach and is relatively inexpensive for what you get. The staff in the hotel are young and professional with the exception of the two managers. I would be very happy to recommend the hotel except for one very serious incident which occurred to me and my partner during our recent stay.
As we got to the assigned room we noticed smashed glass everywhere but primarily coming out from the toilet, probably from the shower door or mirror in the toilet. So we closed the door, went downstairs and were given a different room. The receptionist was very professional and we thought that the matter had been dealt with. However when we came back to the hotel after our first night out we were told that the manager wanted to speak to us in the morning about the broken glass. There was a sense of accusation and it was a very unpleasant message to be given on one’s first night in a hotel. The next morning after only a few hours sleep I had to get up to meet with the two managers who I was told had only limited availability to deal with me. There are two managers-a French speaking man who does not appear to speak Spanish, and a Spanish man.
I asked to see the complaint book (which is inspected by the Junta de Andalucia in a regular basis). However instead of being allowed to record my complaint about my mistreatment and receiving an apology I was accused of having broken whatever it was that was damaged in the room (we had not stayed long enough in the original room to look). The manager stated that we must admit the damage and take responsibility. All of this took place not in an office, but at the reception desk with other guests around and staff watching. I explained the facts twice and was cross examined about the length of time between our having been given the key at reception and our returning a few minutes later to tell them that the room contained broken glass.
I was told that the managers would have to deliberate and we would be given a final decision (as to whether we were being accused of damage and would ultimately be held responsible for their broken glass or not) in the afternoon -
Although we tried to change hotel we could not as nearby hotels would not have availability for 10 nights in a row.
That afternoon the young receptionist, Antonio, who I believe was embarrassed by his bosses’ odd behaviour did apologize and let us know the hotel was not blaming us for the damage to the room and he hoped we stayed for the vacation there. We stayed there feeling very annoyed about what had happened, encountering these two managers for the next several mornings without a word of apology. Being wrongly accused when paying for a service in an industry with, we hope, an insurance for damages anyway, felt wrong and the manager’s response to the matter was extremely badly handled and amateurish. It was not clear to us initially who the actual management of the staff were. The Spanish staff were identifiable as such because they stood behind the desk and dealt with guests but the ‘Managers’ appeared only to sit outside the hotel smoking and their only guest interaction we saw was when we were accused of damage.
We left the hotel with no apology from these managers and we will not be staying there again despite the fact that we come to Torremolinos at least twice a year. I travel with work a considerable amount and have not ever felt as humiliated as I have in this hotel.
Again I would stress that the hotel is otherwise very good for its price level and is to be recommended as long as you don’t have cause to deal with management.
