Powered by AI
Sol Timor by Meliá - Apartamentos is celebrated by guests for providing good value, with its pool bar and on-site shop receiving positive mentions. The hotel's cleanliness is generally praised, though with some caveats regarding towel service. While the staff's friendliness is often highlighted, there are also notes of inconsistency in service.
Its excellent location is a highlight for many, offering convenient access to local attractions. However, the rooms seem to require renovations, and while amenities like beach access are appreciated, some issues with pool maintenance have been noted. The atmosphere is lively, though it may be too vibrant for some.

2nd time visiting Sol Timor and again a superb relaxing stay. Bed and breakfast booked and breakfast was always fantastic with plenty of choice. The on site shop is great with very competitive prices and the staff always welcoming. Plenty of sunbeds you do get towels out early but plenty left after 9am. Plenty of bars and restaurants within minutes of hotel.

The Sol Timor met our needs. The rooms are ok and mostly clean. The pool area can be quite noisy but I guess people like the entertainment. We sat as far back as we could on the grass area. The hotel next door has karaoke for most of the afternoon which is SO loud. Biggest bugbear was the fact our keys kept failing. We mast have had to replace them 7 times or so in a 9 day period. What upset us is that the guy on reception just took the room number and replaced the key. My husband pointed out to him that we could be anyone and suggested he check names and other security questions. He apologised but continued to do the same thing. This is so worrying and management need to be aware of this. Anyone could give any room number and get a key for it. One lady receptionist asked me for my name which was better but I think there should be added security such as ‘what date did you arrive’ to ensure they’re giving keys to the correct people. The entertainment in the evening was very good when we saw it. There is no parking at the hotel so it can be difficult to find a space on the street. We didn’t eat at the hotel. Lots of sanitiser everywhere to help with covid. Sun beds are ok, some more comfortable than others. Comfy sun beds on the beach which were €12 for 2 beds and a parasol. They were nicely spaced apart to allow social distancing. Launderette is handy but the washers are not great, didn’t get stains out, just freshened things up. On site supermarket also useful.

Dear SallyGrant, First of all, we would like to thank you for choosing our hotel as your hotel for your holidays in Torremolinos. We appreciate your good words about the rooms and it cleanliness, the sun beds and pool area and the evening entertainment. We are sorry for what happened with your keys, it is very sensitive and could be disconnected simply next to your mobile phone. We are estrange about your words about the receptionist attitude, we ensure you that we will study what happened, because it is isolated fact that normally does not happen. We apologize for the inconvenience. We hope to see you again at SOL Timor, Kindest regards, Yeray Díaz Guest Experience Manager.

A lot to digest? Read an AI-generated summary of recent traveller reviews.
Stayed in September and slightly wary because of the tone of an earlier email exchange on beach towels ( they’re not provided, but you can buy them in the shop). I put this down to poor English but was to discover that those manning the reception desk were not all versed in customer service.
Apartments are a 10 minute walk from the old part of La Carihuela and a couple of minutes in the other direction to the Marina. So a good position with lots of eateries and bars surrounding it.
Our room was OK, a decent size , with a tiny balcony overlooking a street, which unfortunately was in shade all day. The kitchen supplies were basic, ( not even a tea towel), so take everything you need.
The bathroom looked relatively new, it did have a couple of drawers under the sink but no hooks for hanging anything
The bedroom was a decent size and had an armchair in it.
But, if the air on was on there was a dreadfully musty smell emanating from it.
The deadlock on the front door didn’t work either
A repair man was sent in, but despite his efforts neither could be fixed so we were moved (unfortunately still on the shady side of the hotel) and it was smaller and the fridge didn’t work. The fridge was swapped and we spent the rest of the week here. Though the aircon was musty too, so we just left the windows open
Reception were courteous and ensured things were changed though maybe not at the speed I expected!
The hotel does have a laundry room, but the machines are preloaded with powder and conditioner. These are provided by a separate company and reception wouldn’t contact them to find out which products they used. So I ended up doing our washing in the bath, not ideal. So beware if you have sensitive skin, eczema or psoriasis, and go prepared!
WiFi was intermittent, given to dipping in and out, not much fun filling in locator forms when the system kept buffering or dropping out completely.
We were there when pre Covid tests were required before coming home so elected to go to a clinic at the marina as couldn’t risk an online video call.
The Pool area was kept well but if you want peace and quiet it’s not for you
An average hotel/apartment which charges too much, in my opinion.

+1
Firstly what a wonderful location , direct on the beach
I base my reviews on the following
2/5 below average for what I expected and paid for
3/5 average and expected for what I paid for
4/5 above average for what I expected and paid for
This is an apartment not really a hotel but like al melia groups run very well ,
Once you got past the cold looking interior on your way to the apartment you will find a great little place with value for money
Location 6/5
after travelling alone with a 3 year old and 11 month year old it was so easy to get to the beach , restaurant’s on the promenade , on the right 5 mins into Benalmedina on the left 5-10 mins to toramolinos , we couldn’t ask for more
Amenities 3/5
A little disappointed that advertised there was a fitness suite …. This is not a gym t, but there is a little arcade room with ample games
There is also a little supermarket on site , slightly overpriced but they all are on site but has everything you will need
Pool 4/5
Again based on the price I paid it was more than sufficient and the grounds were spotless
Staff 5/5
Excellent service and the staff at the bar and restaurant were great , always helpful as was the reception staff
Rooms 4/5
As expected for the price but comfy beds and sofa
I had a side sea view overlooking the street and sea , unfortunately the sun never hit our balcony , I suggest pay a little extra and get a side sea and pool view for Terrific sunsets and views of the harbour
The apartment is more than adequate with everything you need to cook a meal
Cleaning 4/5
No complaints over my six day stay towels changed on 3 occasions and bedding
Food and drinks
5/5
The buffet restaurant was €15 for adults and the wonderful staff never charged for my children , very good quality food I might add , not too much selection but quality over quantity and better than some 4 star all inclusive hotels I’ve stayed at
Would I stay here again 100% yes . For a value break we really enjoyed it and the location is second to none

This was our third visit to the Sol Timor and we like it more and more. You cannot beat the location. The beach is right there, the garden is a great place to hang out and catch rays, there is a superb selection of great restaurants, bars and corner stores within two or three blocks and it is not far from the Mercadona, our favourite grocery store.
The kitchen is small but functional, the beds are comfortable and while it, too, is a bit small, the balcony offers a nice view of the sea if your room is high enough. Ours, this time was on the top floor immediately above the room we had for our first visit. By contrast, in 2018, we had a room on the bottom floor on the west end of the building. Back then, we couldn’t see the sea, but now, with the evolution of the grounds – fences have been put up around a little kiddy’s playground – people in that room and adjacent rooms cannot see a thing.
We happen to have a parrot so we love the fact that there are several flocks of Quaker parrots on the grounds. However, while we understand the rationale, we were somewhat distressed when management decided to de-assemble the parrot nest in the palm tree beside the front door
Finally, a note about the excellent maid service in the hotel. We have always been impressed with the level of quality and care with which the maids do their jobs. Anna, in particular, does a great job: she even remembered us from our first visit when we had a room on the 10th floor.

Perfect location close to Benalmadina marina and on the sea front, Lovely pool area with plenty of beds and set in peaceful gardens where a gate takes you directly to the promenade with shops and restaurants and straight onto the beach. Apartment was spacious and clean with regular room service. Lounge had dining table, sofa bed, TV etc. Balcony had side view of sea at the front and mountains at the back. Kitchenette had kettle, toaster ,microwave, induction hob and full size fridge. All crockery and cutlery, you only need to take washing up liquid and cloths if you are using the kitchen. Bathroom very modern with large walk in shower and soap / shampoo dispensers on the walls. Bedroom clean, large wardrobe spaces, safe (small charge).
Reception and room staff very friendly and helpful, there is a defibrillator in reception. I was left a bottle of cava and card in the room by the hotel for my birthday, which was a lovely surprise.
Unable to comment on restaurant, pool bar as we didn't use them.
Really enjoyed our stay, everything run very well.

Stayed with my husband and 3 children 12,8 and 6. Location was perfect come out the back gate and you step on to the beach and have a selection of restaurants.
If you come out of reception and walk straight ahead there is a Lidl about a 5min walk away, perfect for self catering and a lot cheaper than near by shops.
Room was very spacious and clean but didn’t find the beds very comfortable and the aircon wasn’t very good at night so we struggled to sleep.
The entertainment staff were amazing the best team we have ever met. My daughter loved mini club and the activities she did with them and they also did some amazing shows lion king and the greatest snowman,if you stay here I recommend you watch them.
Benalmadena is a 40 min walk from the hotel all flat and there you will find a selection of nice restaurants.
The main thing I hated about the hotel was by 7.30 sunbeds where already reserved and the pool didn’t open until 10.30. People queued up next to the pool and then all ran to get a sunbed next to the pool, it was alway the same people everyday In the same spot and half the time they didn’t use the pool or use their beds bit of a nightmare when you have children who want to be in the pool all day and you can’t get near the pool.
Also my daughter hit her head and took a chunk out of her forehead after walking into a fire extinguisher box, I did report it to reception as the boxes are low down but felt they weren’t really interested just got a half hearted sorry. Boxes really need to be up higher or at least padding around them. Our major put off with the pool bar was was my husband used the toilet and witness one of the staff members use the toilet and walk out without washing his hands

Dear Nicola, At first, we would like to thank you for the time you have taken sending us your review. We are delighted to read that you have enjoyed your apartment, our nigths shows, that you have appreciated our location and your special mention about our entertainment team and activities. By the other hand, we are sad for your comment about pool area, air conditioner and what happened to his daughter. We are sorry that it affected your stay. We made changes, the pool open 10am and close 8:30pm, and the sunbeds are stacked and chained from closing the pool until 15 minutes before the opening it the next day. About the air conditioner, it is centralized and depending on the light of sun during the day and the size of apartment it takes a longer cold down. But if we had known it during your stay, we would have talked with the tecnice service to check the problem and fix it. And finally, we are sorry what happened with the fire extinguisher box. We will take into consideration to put protectors or change the height to avoid more accidents of this type. For us the most important is that our guest enjoy their stay completly and our staff strives hard everyday to achieve it. Do not hesitate to contact us always that you need. For the entire Sol Timor team, it will be a pleasure to welcome you again very soon. Kings regards, David Castilla Guest Experience Manager

I have to admit I’m struggling to find fault with this place in regard to what we were looking for as a family when we go away. We went as a family of 4 (kids ages 8 and 12) and couldn’t be happier.
Location wise it’s perfectly placed to visit the beach during the day and visit the harbour in the evening for drinks and a meal. Our boys had a blast however if I had to find one fault it would be that the pool was freezing. Not that it stopped my two going in but it was cold to the point it made you gasp for about 5 mins when you get in! I suspect visiting in March when it’s colder didn’t help and in the height of summer this won’t be an issue.
The room was nice, clean and had everything we would need for our short stay. There are towels in the room which we used for the pool and shower gel/shampoo in the bathroom. They even left a shaving kit and 2 dental kits (toothbrush etc) which was a pleasant surprise.
We weren’t provided with any info about the hotel or surrounding area when we checked in however discovered on the last day that everything needed is on the TV so keep that in mind if you’re staying here.
Staff were all nice and pleasant and seemed to be following all the appropriate COVID precautions with masks being worn all time.
The pool area was nice and the little bar was great. Happy hour is at 5-6pm and was worth it!
All around the pool area there are these amazing parrots how have nested in the surrounding palm trees. They are a little noisy but not noisy enough that it disturbed us in any way. If I’m honest we loved them!
Didn’t eat at the hotel so can’t comment on the food but people I spoke to seemed happy enough.
In short this place is perfectly located, clean, pleasant with nice staff and guests. Only fault is the cold pool which won’t be an issue in the summer and didn’t seem to bother my kids. We loved this place and would visit again in a heartbeat!

We booked this accommodation for the location, which is superb. However, we upgraded on arrival to get a sea view, but took 3 attempts to agree on a suitable room. The room we eventually settled on (a studio with shower) was adequate (try and get into block 2 it's more modern and doesn't have the foosty damp smell). The kitchen facilities are minimal, so don't go expecting to cook dinner - breakfast was fine. The view was fantastic, but - yes there is a but, if you want a quiet early night don't upgrade to the seaview. The entertainment in the hotel and next door goes on until late and is loud. We used the hotel as a base for wandering around the resort and it was perfect for that. We didn't eat at the hotel at all, so can't comment on food. The pool and pool area is fabulous and extremely well maintained. Beds were really comfy - maid service was only every 2 days, but it's easy to tidy up your sheets and dry your towels for one day :).
My husband was in a mobility scooter and block 2 is definitely much easier to access. The surrounding area was fairly easy to negotiate too.
I used the beauty salon to get my nails redone and it was so cheap and the girl who owns it was just lovely.
Lidl was 5 minutes walk straight up the hill from the hotel, so getting supplies was really easy.
All in all the hotel provided what was needed for our 10 night stay.

Dear ScotAhoy, At first, we would like to thank you for the time you have taken sending us your review. We are glad to read that our hotel met all your needs, that you were able to enjoy your stay with us to the fullest. We hope that our services and staff were to your liking. We are also delighted to read that you made use of our beauty salon and enjoyed it and that we were able to change your room to one more to your liking. With regard to the scooter, access is possible from both blocks, one via a ramp and the other via an elevator, we try to offer our guests as many facilities as possible to move around the facilities. On the other hand, we are sorry that our kitchen did not meet all your expectations, it is equipped with the basic and necessary utensils for cooking. But we will take good note of your comment to take actions to improve, as it is very important for us to improve day by day. We work hard every time to provide dreamed experiences between our guests. Do not forget that we are already looking forwards to welcome you back at Sol Timor, your home at Costa del Sol. Remaining at your disposal, Our kindest regards. David Castilla. Guest Experience Manager.

We've just come back from 5 nights at this hotel and couldn't recommend it enough.
We chose this place on the strength of the photos, reviews and mainly the location. Having not been to the Costa del Sol for many years this was a chance choice.
Sol Timor is in the perfect location 5 minute walk from Puerto Marina, Benalmedana, and a beach front walk away from Torremolinos. Close to many shops, restaurants and bars.
Staff were friendly and my wife was given some sweets and a bottle of sparkling wine for her birthday celebration whilst there, which was greatly appreciated for the extra effort.
Yes some rooms or part of the hotel is being renovated at present but didn't disturb any of our stay.
Fully enjoyed it here and would definitely go back.
