Hotel Ocean House Costa del Sol earns accolades for its extensive amenities and the vibrant atmosphere guests enjoy, particularly at the pool bar and evening events. Nestled in a prime location, the hotel offers easy beach access and is centrally located for exploring nearby attractions.
While the rooms are noted for their spaciousness, there are occasional grievances regarding noise and upkeep. Service is generally lauded for the staff's warmth and efficiency, though opinions on value and cleanliness show some variance, with concerns about extra costs and inconsistent upkeep.

Detailed Reviews
Stayed here in the middle of August with my two teens and for my daughter’s 16th. Before going I had done my homework and had looked at several hotels in the region. Due to the varied reviews and unsuitability for me and my two children i opted for the Hotel Ocean House based on the many good reviews and I’m so glad I did.
Check in was fast, friendly and with no queues. I had checked in using the hotels app so it was only a matter of collecting the room key. Staff were very friendly and helpful at front desk.
The room was spotless and stunning with views over the Mediterranean and the Marina. The added benefit of the room was that my daughter could slide the doors closed making a room within a room and the staff also put an extra bed in here for her. Room well equipped with Bluetooth speaker, air conditioning that worked perfect and very comfortable beds. No issues with room cleaning and fresh towels every day. Bathroom and shower perfect.
Food always fresh, warm and plentiful. A varied selection on offer to cater for everyone. For breakfast we sat outdoors in the covered seating area beside the pool with the most amazing views. Staff always on hand to help with any issues and a very efficient and friendly service.
The pool was absolutely stunning with a selection of pool bars that were very reasonably priced. It was very busy with being mid August although we never had any problems getting beds beside the pool and always had ones with no issues. They have a very good system in place for removing towels that have been left for too long with no owners. Plenty of top class entertainment day and night to suit everyone with great food and drinks on offer.
The location of the hotel is very central and within walking distance of the Marina. The train station is a 10 minute walk up the hill and can take you in the direction of Malaga or Fuengirola and is a very cheap way to travel with trains running every few minutes.
I had alerted the staff to my daughter’s 16th on the Sunday and had purchased additional Cava and Chocolates to be presented at the table for her breakfast that morning. This was put out in a wine cooler with ice and the staff could not have been any more helpful and welcoming. Later that night the hotel also placed a birthday cake and card in the room which I thought was really special.
Overall I can’t thank the team at Hotel Ocean House for the most memorable stay ever. You made us feel so welcome and made my daughter’s 16th a very special day. You even emailed us to thank us for the stay and to check that my daughter had a great day for her birthday. You won’t find anywhere better than this place in this region. First class.
Thank you for the memories that will last a lifetime Hotel Ocean House.

Hotel's Favourite
Overall, it's a really good hotel for a family holiday.
This hotel does a lot of things right. We would highly recommend this hotel for a family or couples who fancy a week in the son.
Check-in
This isn't a great experience as it takes too long. We waited about 20 minutes to get checked in. The issue is that they only have 3 computers, and the process takes too long. We did speak to one group where it took them 1 hour and 20 mintes to check in! For context, it only takes 2 hours and 30 minutes to fly here from Manchester! If you're travelling with Jet 2 or whoever, go for a private transfer or taxi to beat the queue.
Food...
We stayed B&B. Breakfast was good, but it isn’t high quality. Loads of choice, but the cooked options aren't visably appealing but taste good. I particularly enjoyed the omlettes.
My advice would be to go at 8:30. It's a fair bit quieter and a much more pleasant experience. It's a big restaurant and it does get quite frantic when it's busy.
The room.
We stayed in 3807. It is one of the corner rooms with a huge bed. My wife and I felt like we were sleeping in a different postcode! Our boys stayed on a sofa bed in room of its own. Perfect for a family of 4.
The bathroom isn't huge, but it does the job. There isnt loads of storage either, but it is sufficient. The safe is a good size, too.
When we arrived, the fridge had some complimentary drinks, which was a nice touch. We then used the fridge for our own drinks. Who needs an expensive mini-bar?
Room tip... if you go for a side sea view, go for a view of the hotel pool next door (to the left if you're looking at the sea). Otherwise, your room will be red hot to sleep in at night.
The aircon is okay, and we slept well. It's not particularly powerful, but it did keep the room cool.
This hotel has what I can only describe as having cleaing ninjas. Our room has been done before 10:30 every day. I'm not sure if that is because we are on the 8th floor, but it has been seriously impressive.
The Pool
The pool is a decent size. There aren't enough sunbeds for the size of the hotel, but I'm yet to go to a hotel that has.
They do have a good system to deal with bed blocking.
You can't reserve beds before 10:45. Any towels on an unattended bed will be taken. I have seen lots of occasions where the towels have been taken by the pool attendant. I find it hilarious when people get angry, but there are signs everywhere! After 10:45, a note is left. 2 strikes, and your towels are taken. Every hotel should have the same system!
Pool Bar
The pool bar serves some nice food. The menu has something for everyone. We thought the prices were reasonable for things like tacos, salad and club snadwiches. The club sandwich is pretty big, so they are quite happy to serve it on two plates so that you can share.
When we arrived on the Thursday we arrived
, there was an amazing saxophone player at 16:00 till 18:00 with quite a few brakes. The place was bouncing! He was really good. On the Friday, there was a guitar player with a violinist playing along with a backing track. They were probably the best act I have ever seen on a holiday! Really really good. The Saturday it went a bit downhill. A guy who played 3 drums and a symbol very loudly to backing tracks. Not for us. On Sunday there was a very good singer. Monday and Tuesday, it was just a DJ and the place was fairly quiet. Will there be something on a Wednesday? Who knows!
Entertainment
In the evenings, there were mainly singers. They were all pretty decent. On Tuesday there was an Elvis tribute duo who were really good! I am not an Elvis fan, but they played all the songs you know. Check them out!
There are some classes by the pool. Pool Biking was very popular. So much so that they had to put on two classes. Pablo's class, in particular, was very good.
Verdict
The hotel itself is almost in Benalmadena. Benalmadena marina is a few minutes walk to some lovely restaurants. We can highly recommend the Cinnamon Club for an Indian meal. B&B was perfect for us.
Would we come back? Definitely!

We've just returned from a wonderful week's holiday where we stayed at the Ocean View. The hotel is immaculately clean with the cleaning staff working constantly throughout the hotel during the day cleaning windows/doors/floors/handrails etc..I was very impressed!
The check-in was swift and our room was ready upon arrival. Beautiful view of the marina and sea from the 7th floor. We were offered the option to upgrade to the Premium Level facilities for €40 per person per day.
The room service/cleaning throughout our stay was exceptional...thank you!
If you find the mattress too firm you can always ask for a topper to be put on.
We went half board and couldn't fault the meals. My husband did not have the same meal twice during our stay so therefore there was plenty of variety. The dining room did get busy during some meal times but the staff worked tirelessly to ensure the guests were accommodated. The food was at the right temperature for both of us but if you wanted the food to be hotter there was a microwave available to use if you so wished.
We used the hotel sunloungers on the beach one day and the option to do this instead of lounging by the pools was the right choice as they were very comfortable indeed. The loungers and parasol cost 7€ each unless you are a Premium Level guest and then they're free. There is a restaurant on the beach which you could use with 15% off any of your purchases.
Note: You will need to use your room card to exit and enter the hotel grounds if you go to the beach/promenade via the rear of the hotel.
The drinks throughout the hotel were reasonably priced. There is a happy hour 6.30-7.30 ?
The hotel is able to arrange a taxi service to and from the airport which we didn't use but it turned out that it would have been cheaper than what we had arranged.
There are taxis available outside the front of the hotel. One to the station cost 7 euros and the same amount going to the shopping centre (nearly the same location).
There was entertainment in the evening (Elvis tribute was one) and organised activities in and around the hotel during the day, also trips out. The hotel activity time table and other information is displayed on the left wall as you go down to the restaurant as well as information left in your room.
There is a cash machine in the hotel as well as a coffee machine (charge required).
Just be aware that when you weigh your case on the hotel scales that there may be a difference from what the airport check-in scales say, as we found out (almost a kilogram difference).

We really enjoyed our 7 day stay at this Inn even if there is negative!
Pros:
The buffet is very varied and delicious. Fresh produce, with good fruit, pressed orange juice, cold meats. In short, there is something for everyone. The rooms are not nickel nickel but a minimum clean and functional. The location is really on top of the top, close to shops and restaurants at very low Awards. Very clean place with public toilet. Going to the port on the right is splendid. The staff is very nice, some speak French. For fun september, still animations so it's great. Top for birthdays, EVJF, rest holidays, or with young children.
Cons:
For us, 1st building is unfortunately no sunny day on the balcony... Just below the window a small aperitif area so not ideal after 00h and very early in the morning (noise and different arrivals at all hours). The karcher from 11:15 to 12:30, the lawnmower at 7:30 and the lights from the balcony that does not go out alone... Unfortunately I do not recommend the Inn for people who have light sleep, the rooms are very poorly insulated and we really hear everything. Big disappointment level all inclusive there are only meals no drinks in the package except prenium (excessively expensive). The pool towel is exchanged for 1euro. No carafe of water at the buffet, you have to pay for your drink (take a bottle of water in your bag). 2 bottles offered on arrival and that's it. The water in the pools is quite cold, for our part we are morning and no problem with deckchairs! For children no Things to do now and no water games.. There are elevators but quite a walk even too much for my taste 🤣🤣🤣
The cleanliness of the whole Pension is impeccable. The location is perfect being
Miscellaneous:
For the Ferris wheel 10 euros/pers. to do it around 8pm at night is not worth it. Many supermarket including a liddl nearby. Shop and eat lunch in the room (fridge equipped) you will save money. Rent a car if you are really visitors otherwise taxis are not excessive.

The Ocean House is a nice hotel in a great location but we seemed to draw the short straw with our room.
We arrived later than expected at 9.40pm. The male receptionist that checked us in was very curt when we asked if there was any food available. His reply was that there was a Burger King and other restaurant a short distance from the hotel. Having paid for an evening meal we expected at least to have at a snack available.
Our room 2208 was quite nice and comfortable. Unfortunately on the first night we discovered how windy it was by the noise of the ill fitting patio doors rattling all night. This caused a hatch in the ceiling to lift and rattle. The next day we realised that our balcony was in the shade ALL day. This was very disappointing as we expected it to be in the sun either morning or afternoon. As the receptionist pointed out to us they could not control the wind! Between the two buildings at the front of the hotel. is a wind tunnel.
The breakfast choices were very good, but the restaurant was absolute chaos. Dinner was the same chaotic scene. The hot meals were poor, either stewed or overcooked. I felt sorry for the hard working chefs trying trying to produce hot food for the huge number of guests descending on the dining room at once. The pool bar was excellent, delicious nicely presented food and great staff.
There were far too many guests to be catered for in one sitting. Guests and staff would benefit from a two sitting arrangement.
The rooftop pool bar that is advertised is for the use of the executive room guests, other guests have to pay a daily rate to access it.
The evening entertainment was good. There was no signage around the hotel to let guests know what entertainment and activities were on any particular day. This information was on a leaflet that receptionists will supply on request!
The cleaning staff, dining room staff, and most of the bar staff are very pleasant and helpful. The reception staff are neither pleasant nor helpful.
My tip would be to avoid any of the rooms in the block on the left-hand side when leaving reception (right side if facing reception from outside the front of the hotel).
We've stayed at the Las Arenas, another Mellia hotel in Benalmadena several times. We had none of the problems there that we found in the Ocean House. There is always a small buffet laid out for guests arriving late and the dining room there is beautifully managed.
On the whole the Ocean House is a nice hotel, but we wouldn't return because of the problems we encountered.
A lovely hotel situated right on the seafront at Torremolinos ( well, only just, turn right out of back gate walk 25 metres and you’re in Belamadena).
It is a hotel that has a high turnover, so you may have to queue a while before checking in. We were lucky though.
The staff are wonderful and extremely helpful and friendly. For example, I am a Coeliac and require gluten-free meals. Whenever I visited the buffet restaurant there was always a chef on hand to point out what I could or couldn’t eat. Always plenty of choice, for breakfast and dinner, although slightly the same most days. You can also have free Prosecco for breakfast if you desire!
The room we had was spacious with twin beds pushed together, along with a sofa bed in the other area. A tv is in each part, along with a stereo speaker system for playing music. There are also air conditioning units in both areas. Note: please ensure patio doors to balcony are kept shut for air conditioning to work. Our cleaner had habit of leaving one slightly ajar 🤬.
Towels for the pool are provided for a deposit of 10euros, and you can change them if you wish at a cost of 1euro.
The pool area is marshalled by a lifeguard, and there are strict rules regarding reserving sun beds. If towels are left unattended before 10.45am, they WILL be removed. The 2 pools are clean and warm. However, there is no monitoring of children jumping in, so beware.
One thing we were not advised of until Day 4, is that there is happy hour at the bar between 6 and 7. We made up for it from Day 5!
This is not an adult hotel only, so if you’re not happy with children and noise in the pool area, then avoid.
A nice touch was that a small buffet breakfast was pre made for us on the day we left at 04.30am.
Overall, a nice hotel in a good area.

Hotel right on the sand, well located and with easy parking. We stayed (my daughter and I) in a huge suite, overlooking the sea, which had everything to be perfect, but underwent an apparent "half-renovation", as the furniture, equipment and even the bathroom appeared to be old. and just painted. Breakfast is crowded and the restaurant service leaves something to be desired, but it is varied and delicious. To use towels on the beach, a deposit of EUR 10 per person is required. Despite being a beach resort, it does not offer spa services.

First visit to this Hotel in 36 years!!! It felt very familiar but but recently refreshed it had a modern feel in the perfect location for exploring the Marina, Torremolinos, Benalmadena and beyond
Room was in building 3 with a seaview. Large room, very big comfy bed, plenty of hanging space, sofa bed, 2 TV’s , speaker, safe, mini bar not stocked and a kettle but no tea or coffee so take your own. Bathroom had a really good shower with shower gel and a shampoo in refillable bottles.
Breakfast, very busy but very good. The hotel was fully booked but all food was constantly topped up as required, lots of choice.
Pool area was lovely, plenty of sunbeds, however the reason for only 4 stars…..no heated pool. Advertised as having a small heated pool, all the pools were freezing. I asked reception which pool was heated, they said the walk in pool by the playa bar, tried it again, definitely NOT heated which was a real shame.
Beach had sunbeds which were very comfy, but €7 euros each for the day, should be included for guests.
Playa bar had a good range of drinks but the food was a bit of a let down, better lunch options a short walk away.
I would return for another mini break.

Two couples with 4 children stayed at the hotel last week.
I have to highlight the attention of the staff, very pleasant, smiling and always available.
The next strong point that I highlight about this hotel is the buffet, I think it is one of the best we have been to in hotels of this type. Great variety, everything very well cooked and most importantly the hygiene and order that was breathed for a dining room where so many people pass through at the end of a day. Good organization and staff of ten.
Maybe we miss some nighttime children's entertainment such as a mini disco, musical, or similar, but in general we have had a very good experience in this hotel with an exceptional location.

Having just returned to Ireland from a four night stay at Ocean House Hotel I have some comments about my stay. I was with my daughter Karolyne who made the booking direct with Melia. She checked in online the day before we arrived but this was a complete waste of time as there were huge queues in Reception on arrival and not enough staff to deal with the numbers. This was most annoying after a long journey from early morning. The free Starbucks coffee station on the way to the lifts was a nice touch and most welcome. The room was ready when we got our key card after about a 45 minute wait. The room was spotless, but my daughter had requested that a bed be made up for me in the second room and this had not been done, however after contacting reception, a bed was brought to the room and made up for me. The bathroom was particular tiny and wasn’t very comfortable. There was no where to keep toiletries which was very inconvenient. The fridge was stocked with a selection of drinks that were complimentary which were most welcome. We also had robes and slippers as part of our Premium room package. This also included access to the rooftop pool and free sun beds on the beach. The rooftop pool had waiter service and free fruit cup refreshments. However the sun beds were very hard and the pool was freezing. It was possible to upgrade to a four poster sun bed but this came at an extra cost of €170 per day which was simply ridiculous as these beds were old and worn and very shabby and certainly not worth this price. Back to the room. The cleaning staff were excellent and our room was always left spotless after their visit. My only complaint in regards to the room is having no drawer units to keep things in. Even a small bedside drawer unit instead of a table would be somewhere to keep bits and pieces and even toiletries as there is nowhere in the bathroom. The room looks instantly cluttered as there is nowhere to keep anything. We were booked in half board but swapped our evening meal for lunch as we prefer the dine out at night in the many wonderful restaurants the Marina has to offer. The breakfast in the hotel is a treat for every visitor with something to suit every cuisine. It would be impossible not to be happy with the huge breakfast selection. The waiter service was excellent, speedy and efficient. The lunch also had an excellent selection to choose from. We didn’t try the evening meal so I cannot comment on that. I wasn’t impressed with the new turquoise chairs and glasses as they made the restaurant look like a cafeteria. Ocean House is in one of the best locations in Torremolinos with easy access to the beach, the promenade and the fabulous Marina. We will no doubt return again
