Sorry to say so but besides a limited simple room and breakfast, the Service really did lack on support and understanding. On a three night stay, I want to cancel the last night because of changes but NO WAY or offer to discuss the issue - Hotel First, Guests second! The Check-in was quick and simple, Breakfast a buffet with simple mainly packaged, with pre-cooked Coffee and self-made rolls (even there is a fantastic Bakery around the corner). Rooms are very simple and picked from the Salvation Army Magazine, nothing fits together, my bed was a single older kids bed, and the towels need renewals according to the smell. Rooms are hot and not conditioned, sleep was not good. The surrounding area is an industry type style with lot of empty factories, the alternative left-wing anti-fascist occupied houses are a good contrast to the empty ramshackle factory buildings around.…
A great hotel for short stays. Friendly staff. Breakfast: buffet breakfast. All dishes are delicious. Free parking in the yard. Very comfortable mattresses, pillows and blankets. The hotel is located in the middle of the block. The hotel and the room are very cozy.
Was visiting friends living the the area nearby and opted to stay here rather than somewhere more central. The price, which is excellent value for money, was also a consideration. First a little about the area - a lot of reviewers have said the area is run down and industrial and in many ways this is true. But it's also one of the reasons why they call Leipzig the new Berlin...all that space, all those old warehouses. there's a lot of artistic activity going on in this neighbourhood, it's just that much of it is happening either behind or closed doors or in the very nearby Schleussig neighbourhood, which is a little more lively, gentrified and student-occupied. Also very near this hotel is the wonderful Spinnerei, a massive ex-factory complex that includes dozens of artist's studios, art supplies stores and established (and much fancier) galleries. Worth a visit. There isn't much very near, in terms of eating, shopping or cafes, but all of this is less than a ten minute walk away (this part of Leipzig seems very safe, if empty...was walking around late at night without any problem). Additionally there's a bus stop almost directly outside. About 5 minutes walk away (heading towards the Spinnerei complex) there's a train station and a tram to central Leipzig. As for the hotel itself, it really is great value for money. For around 32 Euro a night I was expecting a cupboard of a room. But was surprised to get a normal-sized hotel room with a comfy bed, television, free Wifi, free breakfast, complementary bottle of water and a small but tidy ensuite. Very comfortable all round (although must agree that their pillows need some more fluff - I overheard another guest asking for 2 pillows, might be worth doing same if you find all the pillows here are like that). They also provided a free map of the surrounds and the staff were very friendly and helpful at all times, whenever I needed directions or information. I didn't look around the hotel much but what i did say was the same: warm, cosy, clean. Breakfast was nice - not the over stuffed buffet you get in a fancy hotel, rather fresh bread and buns, variety of sweet and savoury spreads and fresh fruit salad and yoghurt and cereals. Not outrageous but you don't need much more. The location of the hotel, in it's own courtyard off the street, seems to keep everything pretty quiet. This also allows you to park a car (we did this, totally fine/safe). In fact everything seemed very quiet the weekend we were here although did find that the walls were a little thin with one gravelly voiced gent next door. All in all, I'd highly recommend staying here especially if you're on a budget and feel comfortable navigating the public transport or walking.…
This small hotel is off the city centre in a run-down area, but please don't let this put you off! The hotel is situated in a courtyard behind an austere facade and this belies the warmth of reception, clean rooms and service that lie beyond. Yes, it's not expensive, but you get far more than you pay for. I was visiting the Leipzig International School, a short drive away, and the tram-stop and railway station are within easy walking distance. Although the neighbourhood is run-down, I was able to walk unhindered to and from the excellent cafe/restaurant at the railway station (Bi.Ba.Bo. - simple cuisine, great beer, friendly service)
Nice hotel, good for budget trips. It is placed in the western zone of the city, five mins walking to the tram. We booked a room with private toilet, at the second floor, there was not an elevator. The room was quite small, the wifi connection did not work. Friendly staff, good breakfast, payment by cash or debit card, no credit card.
First important point: unbelievably they do not accept visa. Only EC, Mastercard or cash. Also no bank in the vicinity. I would rate this place as 4 stars but this is a major issue for me. Otherwise I can only echo what Andy_Q_189 said. The area isn't the best, but it's about 5 mins walk from the end of tram line 14. Limited nearby eateries, but following the tram lines towards town will bring you to a chinese restaurant which was OK. Otherwise simply jump the tram back to town. Our room was spacious and quiet, breakfast was reasonable. Good value then, as long as you ensure you have the correct means to pay!
Situated in a run down area of town initial impressions were foreboding, however once inside this changes. The rooms are clean and tidy and have seen a recent refurbishment. There are garages to the rear which can be rented for a small fee. The hotel is about 500 meters from the bahnhof where there is a regular service to the city centre which is reached in 20 mins. Breakfast was reasonable and sufficient. In all it offers very good value and secure motorcycle parking, so fitted all my requirements.
The hotel was in an odd location as there is nothing around it. It almost seems like its an old industrial area that has long seen its hey day. The room was nice though and it had one of the best beds and pillows I have had since being in Europe. Breakfast which was good is also included in the price. So if you like walking and saving money then its great.
It's a tram or train ride from Leipzig centre to Plagwitzer, and the post-industrial neighbourhood is rather drab, but the Plagwitzer Hof stands in its own quiet courtyard and is a pleasant place to stay. The room was comfortable (apart from the pillow which was soft and nearly vanished in use!) and the buffet breakfast was superb. Overall I thought it was excellent value and I would happily return.
I've spent 1 night in this hotel in the middle of a trip, my needs were for a place where to rest well...and here it was great! I've chosen it because of good last-second price (28€) for a single room within breakfast. The room wasn't big, but efficient and with comfortable bed, breakfast rich and personal very kindly (although they didn't speak any language if not German).
