The Kempinski is the number one name in Germany for luxury hotels and this establishment flies the flag well. Superbly situated in the Altstadt (Old City) of Dresden, directly opposite the Zwinger Palace, Opera and Green Vaults, you couldn't ask for a better location. Its in a former palace which was rebuilt from rubble after German reunification. The entrance is...

Having stayed at Kempinski hotels before, this hotel is a shining star amongst their other beautiful properties. It is an incredible story how this hotel was meticulously rebuilt from the ashes of a former palace. This hotel is creme de la creme. Beautifully appointed throughout, spacious rooms with high ceilings, a few have small balconies. Location near the Residenze, Zwinger...

It is probably the best hotel in Dresden. The hotel is in an excellent location. The hotel staff is well trained, friendly and of course efficient. My wife and I stayed at this hotel for two days. We had a dinner in one of the hotel restaurants but it wasn't memorable. We booked a Palais room. The room had a...

Splurged with a friend and booked one night here for some pampering. It was a nice place, but by no means a five star hotel. The rooms are in need of a makeover as they smack of mid-90 decor. Room service was friendly, food was below average. The pool are was quite chilly and it is too dark to read...

The palace was gutted in the war and rebuilt as a five-star hotel. The rooms are absolutely quiet - four foot thick foot walls. The hotel is immaculate and beautiful. The service was very good, although not flawless, and the few mistakes led to profuse apologies and free meals. The location may be the best in the world - across from...

This really is a special hotel. It was recently rebuilt from a shell after being bombed in WW2; the hotel stood derelict unitl the late 1980's when it was lovingly restored. I am a member of the Leaders Club, which the Taschenbergpalais belongs. I was upgraded to a Junior Suite which was about 50 sqm at the front of the...

This hotel is one of the best and most beautiful in Germany, stayed there twice in summer 2006. It is in the very centre of Dresden, in a baroque palace building which was destroyed during the war and recently perfectly restored to it's original beauty. The location is best possible, next to the Opera and the castle. The suites I...

My wife and I spent 3 wonderful nights at this outstanding hotel. Hard to believe only the front wall was left standing at the end of WWII. It's a magnificent place with magnificent rooms and service and food and location. Steps away from the Palace and the Main art collections and the Semper Opera House and the River and the...

We stayed at the hotel for just one night, in a "palais suite". The room itself is quite cool, with really HUGE ceilings. A few things however weren't absolutely perfect, like the (big) bathtub was moving down a bit when full of water, which doesn't give huge confidence, and in that sort of rooms for a recent hotel, you could...

My stay at the Hotel Taschenbergpalais Kempinski Dresden was one of the highlights of my recent trip throughout southern Germany. The hotel is beautiful with excellent service and facilities. Since I got a great rate through otel.com, I was worried that I might be given a sub-standard room but my room was elegant, large and wonderful. The staff were very...
