Stayed here for one night and wish I could have stayed longer! The castle is stunning from the moment one approaches from the road up to the entrance. The walk over the small bridge into the interior lobby is beautiful, and the inside of the hotel is amazing. The bar is small but great, fantastic beers & friendly bar staff....

While I am not a huge fan of German culinary delights, I found the local flavor a to be delicious coming from this kitchen. The wifi was spotty, but I am willing to give that a...

This is an unbelievable hotel for history, the grounds and service. I stayed here just one night on a business trip to the area. This hotel was built in the 700s and includes a moat! The rooms were very comfortable and the room service was prompt and friendly. I would definitely go back. Enjoy!

We were in Essen for a class reunion early June 2016. In checking the prices for hotels, was shocked. Even the basic, old small hotels in the Essen Suburbs were 170 euros plus with the City business hotels in the mid 200s. Messe-Convention price gouging. So decided to spend the extra 50-100 euros a night to stay in a real...
