The Clayton Hotel Düsseldorf garners compliments for its prime location near old Düsseldorf and the charming little Tokyo district, with the stylish atmosphere and spacious suites adding to its appeal. However, guests' opinions are divided regarding the rooms, which are generally clean and roomy but sometimes criticized as outdated or lacking maintenance. While the service is often lauded for staff friendliness and professionalism, some inconsistency and communication issues have been noted. The hotel's cleanliness and extensive amenities, including diverse food options and a sauna, are highlights, though the value proposition is contested, with some deeming it overpriced.

I had such a nice experience at the Clayton Hotel of Düsseldorf!
We were warmly welcomed by staff members, attentive and friendly throughout our stay.

The suite was inviting with a comfortable bed, a spacious bathroom with many amenities such as enlarging cosmetic mirror, hairdryer, and nice living area parted from the sleeping one.

If you are in need of unwinding, don't hesitate to book the spa. The indoor pool awaits you with a clear view on the Düsseldorf city all the way from the top floor, while several sauna rooms and a sanitarium will help you to relax.
If the foodie in you brought you to Düsseldorf, be aware that Clayton hotel matches the city's great gastronomic offer with a cozy Lobby bar and a Teppanyaki Restaurant for an extraordinary experience for both your gustative and visual senses.

Finally, if starting your day with a great breakfast is indispensable for you then be assured that the Breakfast Restaurant has extensive choice. From savory food with several cheeses, ham cuts, smoked salmons, to sweet options with donuts, muffins, without forgetting the Asian breakfast option, your preferences are certainly covered. My personal favorite: the American fluffy pancakes - absolutely delicious!

I had an exceptional stay at the Clayton hotel in Düsseldorf. The room ( junior suite) was outstanding; very spacious and clean, providing both comfort and style. We had an acces to a fridge, safety cabinet, coffee machine, iron etc. The spa was a delightful experience. We had an access to a rooftop swimming pool with a gym, steam sauna as well as dry sauna. Breakfast service offered a wide range of delicious options, both sweet and savory, European as well as Japanese. The hotel's location was convenient, in the heart of little Tokyo district, walking distance from Altstadt. The staff were incredibly attentive and friendly. The hotel also offers a Teppanyaki restaurant as well as karaoke room. My overall experience was thoroughly enjoyable, and I would highly recommend this hotel to others.

Stayed at the hotel for week on business in area. The hotel is located in the Little Tokyo section of Dusseldorf, so there are ton of Japanese themed businesses: restaurants, coffee shops, Manga stores, supermarkets, household ceramics. It is like being in Tokyo, insane amount of Japanese food options around the hotel.

The hotel itself is great. In this stay I booked the executive suite which was very spacious with good amenities. The room was great. The gym and pool were excellent also. I only had breakfast at the hotel which was a buffet with great variety of options from Asian to western food. I highly recommend it.

The location of the hotel is spectacular, very close to old Dusseldorf where you have an extensive variety of restaurants and bars. It also close to the major shopping district of the city.

I have no complaints about the hotel.

Note: this used to be the Nikko Hotel before the name change

Unfortunately this hotel has severe issues with hygiene. We ended up having to move rooms three times because of issues with each of them.

When you first enter the lobby, the hotel looks clean, classy and high end- but this is very deceiving. The front desk staff were polite on check in, but completely useless in trying to resolve issues with the rooms.

In the first room we had, there was not much of an issue with cleanliness, but the plug sockets on one half of the room weren’t working. This was put down to the maintenance currently taking place in the building and they moved us to a room with working sockets.

The second room was absolutely filthy. There was so excuse for the state of it. The carpet was covered in brown marks and stains that there clearly hadn’t been any attempts to clean. The shower was covered in brown dirt- again evident that nobody had tried to clean it. The kicker was when I almost put my head down on a pillow and spotted that part of it was a strange colour. On closer inspection, it looked like the pillow under it was a strange colour. We pulled the pillowcase off and found a huge brown stain on the pillow. For some reason they hadn’t thrown this away and thought it was appropriate to allow a paying customer to sleep on this.

After the first two rooms, we ended up being upgraded to a more expensive room free of charge. Thankfully, this one was clean. However, you shouldn’t have to pay a certain amount of money to receive a clean hotel. The issues didn’t necessarily stop there. We asked housekeeping for some clean cups. They proceeded to enter another room that they were cleaning, take the used cups out of that room and rinse them in the bathroom sink. To say i was shocked is an understatement.

In the end the room wasn’t so bad, but for the price, this hotel really isn’t worth the hassle. It’s a shame because the location really was good- right near the train station with lots of local shops and restaurants.
Overall, avoid this place.

The hotel where I have been once and will never return again!

I was planning a short trip to Dusseldorf with my family. I reckon myself as quiet an experienced traveller, as I used to be a flight attendant and I had seen dosens of hotels! And I can say for sure, this hotel leaves certainly much to be desired.
The swimming pool was out of oder! And this info was not given to the customers in advance. The hotel charged me a full price for the residential room, but I got no spa service.
The receptionist even said nothing about the pool, till I asked. My little daughter was incredibly upset! She was looking forward to swimming in the well run pool on her Birthday.
A few days later after my complaint I was given a short reply from the customer service specialist, that they are ready to refund only 10 % of the room charge!! That sounds incredibly insulting!

Bizarre hotel. Communal spaces are too small for the number of rooms. The bar was crowded and very loud, at breakfast it was almost impossible to get a seat and they stopped taking food orders at 9pm despite stating the restaurant was open until 10pm because they had too many orders. They claim room service but only if you collect yourself (defeats the point of room service!) but in reality the digital menu doesn’t work - the link to the page for the room service is broken. Outside the room all areas of the hotel are cold. I attended a conference and the room was freezing all day. My room was cleaned but the bottle of water not replaced. It looks nice but it’s not functional and guest experience is sacrificed so they can save money. Won’t be back.

Not a warm welcome or smile on our arrival!. We were abruptly told to pay to get early entry to our room. When we went to our room we were shocked to find a dirty carpet , smelly just not a nice feel at all. We then were given a room next door that too was the same. The next person on the desk did smile and put us in a refurbished room. This room was far better but they don’t replace the dirty cups/glasses , wipe the surfaces mop/hoover the next day. The TV didn’t receive any clear channels when asking the reception they weren’t keen on helping tuning the TV . Therefore I tried but gave up ! The signal like the TV and reception desk were not that great . The next morning I stood at the desk and four people were behind the desk and I was ignored ! In the end I gave up and walked off into the sunset. The hotel is in a good location and is ok in some parts but plenty of room for improvement.

Stayed for 4 nights last month whilst visiting Germany for the euros.
We stayed in an executive suite which was of very high standard and very spacious. The hotel was very good with no issues to report. The swimming pool area which was included in our rate was also all very good and never busy when we visited and was handy for the kids.

Very good location for central station and also not too far to the old town bars etc. Would stay again upon returning to Dusseldorf.

Me and my parents had a overall good stay at the hotel. Breakfast was good with a wide variety of food and also the staff at the breakfast where friendly. During our stay we also made a visit at the bar. The only negative point when I had to pay and asked if it was possible to book it to the room account they said that it was not possible and I had to pay direct.

Only negative point about the room where the room temperature and the comfort off the matras, but in overall a good stay.

This hotel is the perfect location for the Christmas markets. A short taxi ride from the airport and a short stroll to the main shopping area and markets. It was my first trip to Germany and I plan to make it an annual event and stay in this hotel. The room was very comfortable spotless and spacious. Breakfast was of a very high standard with a wide selection to suit every diet. All staff were very friendly and helpful. I would highly recommend staying here either for business or leisure. Great location and value for money.
