Stayed here for 2 nights. Rooms clean and very comfortable beds. Very quiet room at the back of the hotel. Breakfast was adequate with cereals lots of extra toppings available. Selection of bread honey, home made jam, cold meats and cheeses. Very convenient location for walking into the town centre. Would stay here again.

I lived in Aachen in the mid-90s and whenever I come to visit I stay at the Hotel Marx. Reasonable price, good breakfast, easy walking distance to the Cathedral, with nice big rooms, spotlessly clean and, in the rooms I like best, with a nice view of the garden in back. I appreciate the personal attention I receive, whether that...

The hotel is a ten minute walk from the main railway station, and also ten minutes from the centre of the old city. At the back of the hotel is a large courtyard with a disused pool and a lovely garden, where you can sit with drinks from the fridge (based on an honour system). We found the hotel very...

The location is really central, at walking distance from any point in the city center. It is also very well near to two well connected bus stops (Misereor and Luisenhospital). The first time we visited this small hotel, we were really satisfied: really nice, comfortable, clean and spacious rooms, not a big offer for breakfast, but really tasty. The second...

I recently called this hotel to book a room for my upcoming job interview at RWTH Aachen, for which this hotel was well located. Their website lists prices for a single room between 35 and 80 euros, so I inquired whether a single room in the lower price segment was available. The owner let out a big moan and said...

Stayed 3 weeks in Aachen cuz my daughter lives here . Couldn't find one place with that long vacancy so stayed 1st 8 days at hotel Krone then took our chances on wandering around and finding a decent place. Saw this place but you can't go in off the street without buzzing in from the sidewalk. Got in, booked a...

We arrived at Hotel Marx due to a recommendation in Lonely Planet. We were offered a large ensuite double room for 89 euro. The room was spotlessly clean and well decorated. Although the bathroom was a little dated, it was also clean and spacious with a good shower. Hotel Marx is a short walk into the city centre and the...

This hotel can be recommended for a stay in Aachen. Friendly welcome by the owner, a hostess that understands her job and a very comfortable room. The hotel is romantic in an old fashioned way. The interior was decorated with an eye for detail; you don’t need to like it to feel at home. The breakfast with home baked bread...

Although the reservation from Hotel Marx clearly stated that "an ample breakfast" was included in the price agreed upon, the imperious proprietress said I had to pay extra for the breakfasts. Indeed, she said I was to pay in cash. Nor did she issue a receipt, which I later realized would make her not paying taxes to the government. The...

This was a group booking. Nobody had any complaints about their room, apart from the street side being a bit noisy. Rooms all clean and beds comfortable. The lift can't be used after 21.30, so top floors unsuitable for the elderly, the infirm, or the inebriated. Decor a bit dated, but is that important? Breakfast was rather a scrum, as...

“You can't use the lift (no reason given for this rule) after 21.30, so bear that in mind if you take rooms on the upper floors. Car parking is bizarre - cars have to drive THROUGH the hotel to reach secluded garden parking area at the back. Has to be seen to be believed! It was 14 euros/car/night... staff have to roll up carpets and shoo guests away to allow cars to get in and out .”
