This is a really nice hotel but I would not stay there again or recommend it due to the really poor internet connectivity; the last time I had internet as bad as this I was over in Vietnam! Not quite sure how it could be so bad in a modern country like Germany? The staff were freindly and the room, although dated in its style was really nice, warm and comfortable. The hotel is quaint as it appears to be configured from a number of different old properties and the parking is fine if you book a garage space. For me a big issue was the really poor internet connection; we only had a couple of hours connectivity over the 2 nights that we stayed but even that was slow and flaky. Really useless, spoke with other guests over breakfast and they had the same issue that you could reach the hotel router but the internet connection was down. The other issue was the breakfast as on the second morning there were no white rolls and as I have dietary requirements I was left with having to go elsewhere later. It was however really good quality and my wife enjoyed it on both mornings.

I stayed one night in this hotel, the location is perfect, a few minutes walk from the train and bus stations, across the street from the harbor and at the entrance of the old town. The Single Room was quite big, with view on the harbor, big bathroom with a large shower cabin, but the bed was quite narrow. Staff was friendly, decent price, the breakfast was OK, typical German buffet, nothing special but good. The windows are not at all soundproof, I could hear what was going on in the street, it could be a problem during the high and warm season.

I don't normally write tripadvisor reviews and I have not stayed at this hotel which looks very inviting. Given the unfriendly, even rude response (speaking German, so not lost in translation) I just had on the 'phone, I would not want to stay there.

Hotel is located in touristic historical part of Wismar by the old port area. Old town centre is within walking distance. Rooms are 80's fashion but comfortable. Reception service is very nice, polite and profession. You can leave a car at city car park which is free of charge between 19:00 and 9:00.

We stayed three nights in this appartment hotel. We had asked for an appartment with view on the old port, and got exactly that. Which meant we slept in another building across the street: the "Altes Zollhaus". It was a very spacious room with sitting corner and kitchen corner. The beds were good quality. Good quality breakfast. No restaurant. But very good quality Italian restaurant in ground floor of the "Altes Zollhaus". Breakfast staff was very friendly, but the lady we met at reception (Ms. Wobig) definitely was not. Free Wifi, but code had to be renewed every 24h. And since we were staying in the building across the street, we had Wifi access in our room, but not in the breakfast room which was located in the hotel itself. Walking distance (10-15 minutes) to city center.

For such a beautiful building on the outside it lets you down on the inside. Seems no thought put in to the interior which sadly drags it down to the relatively cheap and nasty category. The rooms are small and with a double bed it occupies most of the room area. Snail pace internet, faster using the mobile or cell phone. The staff do start smiling second meeting, not the first Some other guest strangely appeared with fresh fish wanting it frozen frozen. A new one on me. There is no parking virtually but a large cheap parking area across the street Breakfast...no coffeebean grinder machine so crap if you like your coffee. No bacon or sausage just normal german breakfast stuff of cold cuts rolls bad orange juice and left out to dry scrambled egg All in all not bad when you must be in wismar for business

This hotel has a great location with a short walk to the historic center of Wismar. Many restaurants within walking distance. Also comes with free parking which is very nice. WIFI is free but bandwidth is bad

Located on the "ring road" opposite the Old Harbour, the hotel is an ideal spot to visit Wismar . Reception is small, however, check in was fast and friendly. We were in room 302 at the side of the hotel and it was nice and quiet. There is also a lift if you have heavy cases. Parking is opposite the hotel and is free to guests (you park then the hotel gives you a paper to put in your windscreen - it covers your stay). The room was smallish but "well formed". It had 2 single, confortable bed, and on one side of each was a tall wardrobe - one had a safety box and shelve, whilst the other was for hanging clothes. There is a chair, a stool, a flat screen TV and a desk. The toilet was compact but fine. There was free shampoo and soap and a hairdryer. At busty times the shower can be tempramental! The room was perfect forn a short stay in Wismar. There is free Wifi but I found it slow (Mac) but my wife found it ok (Samsung). You need to get the password from reception. Breakfast was extra on our deal - but it was very good indeed - a very comprehensive Continental style buffet affair with a good selection/variety of morning rolls! If I come back to Wismar - I'll be booking in here.

In my view quit an ordinary hotel. But I race the ranking due to its location and good value for money. The harbour is mayby not as nice during daytima with a lot of traffic. But during the evening its just the place to be in Wismar

Hotel Am Alten Hafen was very well located with views to the harbour. It was about a 5 minute walk to the centre of the old town. Our room was pleasant enough and of a fair size but the shower had a large step which I felt was dangerous as there was no grab handle for support. There were cheery pictures on the walls. The beds were comfy but had a silly large pillow with small decorative pillow. The room was clean and contained a large wardrobe, two casual chairs and one desk chair by a small desk. There seemed to be no air conditioning but there was free wi-fi. There was a good continental breakfast. Staff were friendly and helpful. I would probably stay here again.
