Being most cordially welcome— an extremely well handled check- in: hospitality at its best. The personnel at the reception always willing to help ant to make your stay easy. The check- out efficient: and provoking the desire to return to this hotel and to enjoy its comfort. The restaurant: the kitchen as well as the service excellent. I had a phantastic steak( great quality and well prepared). The wine selection quite good. Hopefully: after the renovation and the tajeover by Wirtshaus Joseph the quality of the kitchen as well as of the service will be maintained. My standard room spacious enough and comfortable. To be commended: available a secretary for work and good lighting. And enough hangers for clothes. To be improved in the ongoing renovation process: the sauna. A spectacular view over the town from the sauna-terrace at the top floor. As the Shaba seems to be quite popukar( not only among guests): tgecsauba needs to be enlarged. To the restaurant: Mrs. Doreen to be thanked for her recommendations and excellent service.Abd of course: not to forget the dedicated personnel at the front-desk. An good corps d’esprit the new owner of the hotel should continue to take care of and to further qualify.…
We enjoyed a December weekend with Christmas market just outside the door. Nice welcome by the reception, nice room and quiet during the night. Breakfast was exxcellent without being busy. The inetrnet worked well. The only small complain was parking, as the hotel parking was full and we had to find a public parking in the darkness. Walking distance after parkign was short.
Late arrival and got my light dinner with German white Spargel, nice an quiet room and for sure a good breakfast, I’ll box may next stay in Wismar at this hotel! Great service in resection and very polite workers in all positions, BR Solo business traveller
When you book a hotel with Steigenberger in its name, you expect Steigenberger quality throughout. When checking more carefully, however, we found out that the hotel only “borrows” the Steigenberger name- rather disappointing. Whilst no one can fault the location of the hotel nor the room standards (good but feels a bit dated) the bar attached to the hotel leaves room for improvement. It describes itself as a “wine bar” - which raised my expectations as whilst not a connoisseur by any stretch of the imagination, I do enjoy a glass of wine. I asked if he could recommend a dry red wine and the waiter enthusiastically proclaimed he had exactly the right one. He brought me one to try and it was one of the sweetest wines I had- so I said that that was “a bit too sweet for me”. He rudely replied that it wasn’t a sweet but a dry wine. Honestly, it was so sweet it had nothing on a grape juice from Aldi. Anyway I then asked for my normal favourite, a Shiraz and that was ok. My mother then discovered they had a wine menu on the table that even identified dry vs sweet wines. The one he had first offered me was one out of only 2 sweet wines on the entire menu! So he hadn’t even read their own guidance...…
The hotel is walking distance to all of Wismar's sites. And the hotel has car parking which is not overpriced. The rooms are fairly new with comfortable bed and have shower and toilet. The reception staff was very friendly and welcoming and the room price was okay.
The Steigenberger Hotel in Wismar is a great location right on the Am Markt with all the character of the market square. Unfortunately I just missed the Christmas market that was being set up in the square. The hotel was comfortable and rooms large. The restaurant was a good option and breakfast particularly good. Parking was a bit expensive (and complicated) at 15 Euro a night.
Stayed at Steigenberger Hotel Stadt Hamburg in Wismar for one night, great location, you can walk anywhere, many Restaurants around the Marketplace. Wifi in the rooms was strong, Mini bar in room with fair pricing. Parking for the car was a bit far away.
Right on markt, we paid for an upgraded Comfort room which was very spacious. A little stuffy because no air conditioning is considered necessary in this coastal climate. However, church bells ring all night. Package bathroom small and triangular shower stall smaller. Exceptionally nice breakfast room, actually full-sized hotel restaurant with large buffet and many choices. Note that despite the name of the hotel, it is in Wismar and not in Hamburg. Good restaurant suggestions from friendly desk clerk. We parked on the street for free overnight, had to move car to a "meter" by 9AM, but only had to buy parking ticket once before our 11AM departure from town.
My wife and I spent 2 nights with a prepaid reservation. After arriving at the Wismar Bahnhof from Schwerin, we walked 650 m southeast to this white hotel overlooking the large Market Square. Check in was efficient with an English-speaking clerk and we were soon on the elevator to our 3rd floor #304. The adequately sized bedroom featured 2 twins(put together) with nightstands. A large wardrobe with shelving included a mini bar refer/safe, then an easy chair below the fixed wall flatscreen(cable with CNN and BBC), then a desk with chair. The adjoining bathroom with shower was fully outfitted. The room was clean and beautifully finished, no AC but good secured Wifi. We shopped on the Square and at the nearby Edeka supermarket. We consider this hotel expensive(did not include a free breakfast or a hot pot for coffee/tea), but it is ideally situated for the city’s UNESCO sights.…
The front of the hotel, located at the central square, suggested a old house with winding staircases. Inside it is very modern, staff were very friendly, the breakfast offered a variety of hot and cold food. Liked my room in the annex - quiet and modern room.
