I dont usually write reviews, but I felt like it was the right time to do now.. I was traveling from Denmark to Oldenburg by train, and arrived late when supermarket/restuarant was closed. The staff took care of me with food and beverages. And it made me settle down and relax. :). The location is central near shopping. The lobby is very clean and nice. I ordered a single room for just myself, and wow how nice it looked. Very spacious room and nice bathroom. Good value hotel. The staff was very welcoming and took care of me. Special thanks to staff Andrew. - T.I
Good hotel with nice room and breakfast. Value for money was good and location in the city centre very convenient. The square outside had any restauratnts but don't forget to visit the old city square. Parking was in a nerby parking house.
Nice and clean hotel in city centre. We had an airy room incl. our first ever hotel walk-in closet. We also had a balcony. Though facing a square with several reastaurants we weren't bothered with noise. An easy walk to shops and the little castle.
I stayed in a Style Junior Suite, which was very comfortable with lots of storage and good desk for working. The room had clearly been re-decorated very recently. It was overlooking the square on which the hotel was located and had large windows for lots of light. Note that the hotels has several classes of room, from very small (Cube) to the more luxurious (Style). there is also another building with Loft rooms, but I can't comment on those. Staff are very helpful indeed. i was unable to book a table online in the hotel restaurant, but an email quickly solved the problem. I booked a late checkout, but wasn't charged the extra fee as we didn't check out as late as expected. that was unexpected, but very much appreciated. One comment, you can specify when booked that you want a quiet room at the back of the hotel. One Saturday night the square at the front is indeed quiet full of noisy revelers until at least 4:00 in the morning. I found however, that simply shutting the window solved the noise problem, so was not disturbed.…
The Altera is classified as 4* and may well deserve this rating for its facilities (gym with sauna, attractive bar and breakfast room) and for its standard rooms, but my economy single room (economy does not mean cheap...) felt more like of a 2* level. The room was narrow and rather dour, with bare beige walls and bare wooden floor. The single bed was comfortable but narrow. Amenities were fairly minimal with no hot drink making facilities, no safe and only basic toiletries. The bathroom had a large shower cubicle but was overall very small so that you couldn’t dry yourself without knocking your elbows. On the plus side though, the WiFi was fast and reliable, the room was spotlessly clean, staff were friendly and helpful, and the location of the hotel was convenient. Overall, therefore, a bit of a mixed bag and whether this was a good choice for this room type depends on whether you consider the room or general facilities as more important. I would have given this a 3.5 rating so erred on the generous side.…
This was my second visit to this hotel, both times during a business trip. Here are the pluses and minuses: + very good location + good breakfast + nice staff + sauna & gym + free wifi - small bathroom, but for a business trip sufficient - small bed, would have appreciate it a bit bigger one. Overall, I would recommend this hotel, it has more advantages than disadvantages.
This is a superb hotel. Perhaps a little hard to find with an understated entrance and a small lobby. But everything is wonderful the room are spacious and sleek, the windows open; the bed linen is so white an crisp with the European duvet; the bathroom fixtures etc all European design and very nice. The bathroom is heated separately from the room itself. There is ample closet and drawer space and a coffee machine. A big TV. Good wireless. A nice staff, always helpful. the breakfasts are fantastic and the breakfast room is very elegant. The elevator is fast; there is a gym in the basement but I did not get to try it. On the main floor is a seating and bar area furnished very nicely for conversation or get-togethers. This is one of the nicest hotels I have ever stayed in. One of the only complaints I would make is that their towels were not fluffy. Rather thin. Apart from that....wonderful. I wondered where the parking was since the street is just a walking street but there is a "park house" practically right across the street. (Note: there is construction also right across the street at this moment, but my room faced the construction and it did not bother me. I was there for four nights.)…
This hotel had a great location in the city center, and is only a 0.5 mile walk from the train station. The hotel itself is nice, and the staff were also super friendly and helpful, however I can only give two stars because of all of the crazy drunks yelling outside of our window made it absolutely impossible to sleep at all. Additionally there is no air conditioning and it was pretty hot in the room so we were unable to close the windows to block out some of the noise. All I want from a hotel is a clean and quiet place to sleep, and this was too expensive since it could not provide that. Maybe it’s just because it was Saturday night in Oldenburg, and it might be more quiet on a week day or if you didn’t get stuck in a street side room.
The Altera offers a selection of rooms.. standard rooms are in the main building lacking AC, most of the lofts are located in a nearby building and are equipped wit AC. For each room class, ask for a room facing the court yard. No matter in which building you are, the rooms facing the streets are very noisy, especialy on weekends. The windows are quite good, but it is still not enough. The hotel provides ear plugd to the guests. Anyhow, after spending one night in an outside room, there was no problem to switch and move to an inside room. Overall the staff was very helpful and tried to accomodate our wishes. Both rooms were spacious as well as the bathrooms. The communal room for all lofts was pleasant as well. Breakfast eas good, with a good selection of items. We would stay here again.…
Room was small, bed not big enough. No air conditioning, too little ventilation. No remote for the TV. Shower leaked. Wifi fast and free. Sweets everywhere in the hotel, healthy stuff harder to find. Good location.
