Excellent hotel excellent staff. Very comfortable and convenient for the main road and all the cycle routes. They embraced an ignorant English man who can’t speak any German and made me feel comfortable. I would definitely use this establishment again.
We were staying here for three days and were a bit disappointed with the service here. The rooms are quite large, bus as we arrived late, we had to collect the keys from a safe at the back of the hotel. Two of the three numbers at the central entrance were not going through and it took some time before we could enter. With my handicapped mother and a baby that was a bit cumbersome. The wifi in our area was not working and the staff simply said that they knew about it but they could not help since they did not manage it. Also we found the price to be on the high side for the location. Breakfast was quite good and elaborate though, and rooms are spacious. A backdrop was they were werking on the road so we were awoken early by the noise.
Stayed here with friends as a base for the Christmas Markets. Good choice of continental breakfast. Clean spacious rooms, nice and warm on a cold wet windy weekend. TV in rooms had BBC World so could keep up with news from home. Local friends were able to join us for breakfast and bring their toddler, high chair provided.
OK the hotel is not brand new, actually 12 years old but it is in fantastic condition. Unique design in keeping with the surrounding area gives it very friendly 'kerb' appeal and on closer inspection there are some great details. For example, outside the front door is a statue of a gentleman enjoying a drink in an area which is delightfully block paved. There is garaging for your car at the rear of the hotel separated from the main building by gardens. The rooms are large with mine having a double bed and a big sofa, small table and a large bathroom with good quality fittings. The village location means light traffic and yet you can be in Oldenburg in 10 minutes. I ate in one night with some customers and suppliers and the food was first class. The Restaurant is the bar area but it is so well done that it feels vary comfortable witha relaxed ambience. The food is exceptional. When I was there the Asparagus had just come into season and the Chef had responded magnificently by producing a number of dishes to celebrate the occasion. I went for the Madagascar Steak which was one of the very best I have tasted on my travels, certainly top 5, a quality cut and superbly cooked. Run by the same family for over 250 years and they care about their guests. Strongly recommended.…
