Sadly Hotel Alexander can’t accommodate people making mistakes. Today I misplaced a reservation for a room believing that I made it in the correct city. Although I tried making my mistake correct again Hotel Alexander refused to undo the reservation. I find that very unpleasant and not very service minded. I do not recommend that sort of Hotel.
Sparse hotel on a main street. Easy to walk to grocery stores and restaurants. Many smokers but they must go outside into the courtyard. Not many English speaking hosts available. Overall acceptable stay. They could certainly modernize and add fresh color to walls and new carpeting.
In Oldenberg for a church women's conference a few years ago. I had a comfortable stay, the room was clean and the german breakfast was good. The staff was friendly and I was made to feel welcome from the USA. The wifi was not too reliable, but it was a nice safe and quiet place to stay!
Public areas of the hotel are fine (lobby and breakfast room). Rooms are basic, nothing was wrong but it was all merely adequate. There was no functioning restaurant (seems to be being refurbished?) and there is nowhere worth eating nearer than the city centre. Wifi only works in the lobby, where it was fine.
The first time I visited this hotel ten years ago and this Saturday again - nothing changed. The rooms still got the old furnitures and old bathrooms ... it was clean but in my opinion too expensive for ten year old furniture/ style. In the reception area is a bit carpet missing and basically everything in there looks old and last season. Staff is very friendly and breakfast was very good with a lot of fresh fruit choices, breads, buns and vegetables.
My boyfriend stayed here for work and we really enjoyed it. Rooms are comfortable and clean. Staff welcoming. Good choice at breakfast. Parking area round the back of the hotel which is limited. But we never had a problem getting a space. Small balcony which was nice to be able to sit out on. The closer you are to the dining Hall the better ur wifi is. Only a 10 minute walk into town where there are markets, pubs, restaurants. Overall a lovely hotel.
The positive points were: the excellent breakfast buffet (though the hot food was usually lukewarm, due to guests leaving the buffet lid off!) and the friendly and efficient staff (they lent us an iron, gave us helpful advice..). The beds were comfortable except for the strange pillows. There was free parking. There was free wi-fi - but only in the public rooms. On the negative side, there was no room safe, no toiletries (just a basic liquid soap), no extra blankets if you needed them. When we arrived, part of the shower surround had fallen off (but this was fixed next day). The hotel is about 25 minutes walk from the centre but there is a regular bus that stops nearby. Basically, a good, fairly basic hotel, quite convenient and reasonable value; we paid 70 euro a night for a single room, 90 euro a night for a double.…
This hotel is in a great location if you are driving with easy access and parking. Staff were very helpful and gave advice about the city. The rooms are clean and reasonably sized. The centre of town is reached easily on public transport or an easy walk. The breakfast is your normal hotel assortment of cold and hot dishes so there is something for everybody. Would have no problem in recommending this hotel or staying again.
odd place. Pokey rooms, no bath, no internet except in the lounge. few parking places. But the rooms were clean and the bed comfy. I had real issues with the breakfast and how cold the room was. Some of the staff were unfriendly, but not so bad as the other residents.
Lovely little hotel near to city and places to view. Staff is very friendly. Rooms are not soo spacy but ok. Very clean. Amazing breakfast buffet with shrimps, all sorts of eggs, juices, many fruits and typical sausages of the region. Bus stop next to hotel, but also you can go by foot, only a few minutes to the market place. Rent a bike at the train station!! Oldenburg is a biker's paradise. All tracks are separated from car lanes. Very safe. Attractive pedestrian area.
