We had a very nice stay at The Kronprinz Hamburg. Clean, nice staff and most important of all location, location, location. The hotel has a perfect location right in the center of Hamburg. Perfect for sightseeing and shopping. In the neighbourhood we found a great variety of restaurants and a very nice bakery across the street where we had our breakfast. Fine hotel for the price.
This hotel is located right outside the train station so is very convenient for travelling around/to the airport/city centre etc. It is a basic hotel, however its clean, the staff are friendly, it's safe, and provides an OK breakfast. If you are looking for cheap affordable accomodation with a good location, this is for you
Booked this hotel for an overnight stay on route to Schleswig it was right on front street opposite railway station and 5 mins from bus station, only downside for me rooms very small, the staff were very friendly nice breakfast included in price .. would still recommend just be aware what room you book
As tourists we came with the train and arrived at the Central Train station Hamburg. This hotel is located on the opposite side of the station, a mere 2 minute away. We booked a family room. Basic amenities in the room, no airconditioner. Tip: Rooms are very warm, book a room with AC. Do not book any rooms facing the station. These rooms are very noisy and very warm.
Stayed for just 2 nights on my own to attend a family function. Now admittedly this was the cheapest hotel on the booking site I used. Plus points were - very central as literally across from the main station, breakfast included, room clean and reception friendly. Minus points - the room was described as “Queen size” but was the tiniest cupboard I’ve ever been in - the bedside table had a drawer that couldn’t be opened because the bed was in the way, the wardrobe had no door and the walls in the bathroom were mouldy. The shower head was fixed so couldn’t be adjusted for height and trickled very slowly - I ended up rinsing my hair in the sink. There was a huge window which did not close securely and the heating was on all night - good job as the duvet was literally 1 centimetre thick! Asking for a second pillow was no problem for the lovely reception, but the breakfast staff were made of sterner stuff - I was tutted for talking to my son on the phone, and another family were seated at my table - which was fine since I didn’t need the other chairs, but it would have been nice to have been asked!! But my biggest gripe was that I didn’t feel safe. The area around central station is exciting and never sleeps - but maybe isn’t great for a single female. Although reception was manned 24 hours, no key was required to enter the hotel so people came and went as they pleased. The public toilets and areas were on the first floor, along with my bedroom so meeting unknown people in the corridor was no guarantee they were staying there. The corridor itself was like something from Alice in Wonderland as you just seemed to keep going as it decreased in width until the room appeared - but it meant that you couldn’t pass someone easily without brushing against them. There was no security chain on the inside of the door and no bolt to secure yourself. I was lucky because my relatives accompanied me back each night, but if a stranger had decided to follow me to my room or come through the window at night then I would have had no way of alerting someone.…
