Got tangled up with a group in the bar and upset the waitress as I did not know it was table service. The second man who served us was pleasant. Cake was nice. Nice concept of being on old fireship. Views good too.

Thursday, 2 – March, 2017 I took eight (8) colleagues to Das Feuerschiff (The Fire Ship) for dinner. While the ambiance is quite intriguing, being that it is an old firefighting vessel, the quarters are quite cramped and stuffy. We were seated in the Captain’s mess, which was quite cozy and private. The menu is available in both English and...

We didn't get to stay here. Having booked through booking.com and received our booking confirmation, the ship people obviously had a better offer (i.e. somebody booked the boat for a party and needed the accommodation too) so they basically cancelled our booking, saying they were full, despite us having booked ages before and the last room having only just been...

This former lightship in the sport marina of Hamburg offers a unique restaurant and hotel experience. I didn't dine there, so I can't judge that. The cabins offer bunk beds that you need to climb in to, so definately for people having trouble climbing (check: if you can lift yourself backwards up a small wall, you should be ok). They...

Not very big but something different. A friend of ours rented the bar and disco last weekend for his 50th birthday party. To get there is very easy you just have the get the U2 to Baumwall underground and it is just over the road. It is an old fire ship anchored in the Elbe. We had 2 floors (sorry...

We went to the restaurant for dinner. The menu was good, fish and meat dishes, as well as the traditional "Labskaus". The food was tasty, but not worth the price. The upper deck menu was a lot wallet friendlier and had more choices to pick from. There was only one server on the lower deck restaurant, and she wasn't very...

Went to Hamburg for a short stay and a visit to "Alma Hoppes Lustspielhaus" (Henning Venske had one of his "performances" there). Decided to try something completely different. Anybody can produce a 4 or 5 start hotel. That's just a matter of enough money. Mostly it will look like "everywhere else", but a stay will probably not be remembered as...
