Beware! I booked 24 days, i good looking new hotel but with some serious problem The heating / ventilation does not work, the room is unbearably hot and the room smells of sewer problems. I did not sleep for 2 nights due to this, I repeatedly tried to solve this with the front desk without success .. One night I tried to buy a coke at the reception but was refused to pay by card because the night porter wanted to make some black money for his own pocket. When I demanded to pay by card, he became threatening and aggressive so I had to flee for my own life Afterwards i tried to check out but was denied Be very carefull when you stay here!! You risk being beaten by the staff

This is a new hotel which has been open about 5 months. From the outside it does not look anything special but the interior is good. The staff are all friendly and helpful. Rooms are good only downsides are glass partition wall between bedroom and bathroom, this means if you use toilet in night the whole room is flooded with light !! TV could do with a few more channels with English language available even if sub titled. Breakfast is buffet style with hot and cold selection and quite a good choice available. Tip is to get your vouchers at reception when you check in, there can be a queue in the mornings with ckecking out and you will waste time getting the vouchers which you hand in as you enter the breakfast area. There is a small bar area which serves lights meals at night ( pizza etc). The area around the hotel is not the best, it seems to be in an area being redeveloped. Quite a few semi derelict buildings near and some homeless people living in doorways but no problems encountered when returning to the hotel on foot in the evenings. One tip if you travel into Hamburg by train from the airport get off at Berliner Tor station. Go up off the platform and turn right to exit the station. If you exit onto an open air square you have gone the wrong way. If you have turned right you come to an exit with steps down to the pavement. There is construction work going on here. Turn right and walk under the railway bridge, you will come to a large crossroads look to your left under the next railway bridge and you will see a sign for the Holiday Inn hotel. This is in the same street as the Super 8 hotel. So cross the large junction to your left side, walk under the railway bridge then immediately cross the road and go left towards the Holiday Inn sign, turn right by this hotel and yours is the next building along the street. It is no more than a ten minute walk from the station. Use the subway system to get into the City Centre, 3 stops will get you there. You can buy a Hamburg card for a choice of number of days or you can buy a ticket each time you travel. Machines are easy to use with English available.

All things considered this is an “ ok” hotel and we had a good 4 nights stay here. If you can get past the hotel’s logo which makes it look like a 80’s snooker hall and walking past derelict and vandalised buildings you will find, despite first impressions, a cosy stay. The rooms are clean and warm. Downside is the TV has few channels that actually work and airplay would be good for foreign visitors ( or at least the language function on the remote). A design flaw is the glass walled bathroom. Difficult if sharing a room as anyone going to the bathroom at night wakes the other one up by putting the bathroom light in and flooding the bedroom in light through the shower wall. Even if there was a night light simply put in the toilet section that would help. Apart from that, the staff are friendly and the rooms are cleaned daily. A nice stay!!!

15 minutes ish on the train to the airport, so location is handy. Really lovely hotel. It’s about a 10 minutes walk to the closest subway station which brings you to the centre of the city so the location is great. Metro prices are typically €1.70 for a single journey and I think it was only 2/3 stops on the train to the ventral station. Some of the hotels straight in the centre were €100-€150 more because they were location but this location was more or less perfect. I was travelling alone so the only thing I would say is that I was conscious not too stay out too late alone because there was a man who seems to live under the bridge which you have to go under to get to the hotel if you are going by train, but that’s not the hotel’s fault. The hotel doesn’t look like much on the outside, but the rooms were so much nicer than I thought they would be. There was no guide in the room on how to dial room service/introductory guide to the hotel/menu if they served food. I was only staying one night so I didn’t ask. Overall I really liked it. Super close to the Christmas markets too, staff were friendly as well-I’d stay again.

stayed here for 3 nights Oct 3-6 2019. Newly opened with some workers still around putting finishing touches to some parts of hotel.Check in & check out was very efficient. Staff very friendly. The rooms are compact , cleaned daily, comfortable beds, good shower. Could do with more storage in the room . Great selection for breakfast which was a little chaotic the first day, still adapting .No restaurant yet as stated on website. A bottle of water in the room but no glasses, the bar had no till , the prices were totted up on a piece of paper (not very professional). Located quite close to Berliner Tor station (8 minutes walk) which gives easy access to rest of Hamburg, . Very satisfied with stay and would recommend this hotel.
