Stayed for 4 nights in frozen February. This hostel had all mod cons and the wifi was excellent. Rooms were clean modern and warm. Shower was better than some mid priced hotels and they have rooms with good disabled access and wet rooms. The Meininger brand is great as a base to explore this vibrant city. It's a 10 minute...

Went with my school to Berlin for 4 days. The setout of the hotel was very nice, and the design was very welcoming, especially to young people. The room was a bit small but it was pretty good for the price. The breakfast buffet had some good options (didn't have lunch or dinner there). The WiFi was surprisingly good as...

The hostel was pretty affordable and for its price. Location was good, it was right in front of the metro station. Bed was fine and bathroom was not bad as well. The staff was friendly and you can request to borrow their hairdryer at their receptionist.

The rooms were quite confortable and the toilets were quite clean. I wish the food was better, as even though the breakfast was filling enough to get me through the day, the dinner and the fried rice was dreadful. I wish they would instead serve some traditonal German food, and that would completely justify its price (10-20 euros for my...

Dear MEININGER guest, thank you for your detailed review. We really appreciate your impression and are pleased that you enjoyed our service. Still it's unfortunate that you are so disappointed with our breakfast, since we revalued the buffet a lot. Kind regards Your MEININGER team

Me and my friends went to Berlin last week, though only for a very short time - we stayed at this hotel - one night to be exact. I must say that I was very pleased with my choice. This hotel is for you if: -you like to be near Alexanderplatz (2 stops) -near train st. (Across the street) -quiet...

This place is occupied by school groups every single day. They are running around the hotel with big noises and trying to wake us up in the midnight. At breakfast restaurant, its also occupied by school groups so all the food and tables were taken by students and you have nothing to seat and eat. This is not a hotel,...

Though it gets advertised as a hotel - extremely misleading Location: as the name suggests near Alexanderplatz - no where close to it. About 3-4stops by U bahn. Rooms: Sharing room - bunk beds!! Not pleased. crowded & cramped. No Air conditioning/no fan. Bathroom: you need to keep pressing the shower for more water. Staff: very helpful even during late...

If this were to be advertised as a hostel instead of a hotel (and had hostel prices rather than hotel ones) I would have been perfectly happy with the fact there was no hairdryer, the pancake pillows and the shower that was operated with a push button that you had to push at least 6 times per shower but as...

Very very clean. Lovely staff and a nice bar downstairs with a good range of drinks. Not recommended for more than 2 days stay as it feels like a bit like a prison cell after a while in the rooms. TV mostly German but you get cnn etc, take a laptop with you! Staff turnaround low so it's nice to...

Fantastic service. Great hotel. Have stayed there twice. Definitely recommend it. I stayed with 40 children in July and this hotel was in a convenient location (even though it is not actually in Alexanderplatz as the name states!). Staying in Prenzlauer Berg

Neighbourhood Profile
Prenzlauer Berg
No Berlin neighbourhood has undergone a greater change than Prenzlauer Berg. The artists and non-conformists that defined the district’s intriguing subculture in the 1980s and 90s have been replaced by a young, hip crowd that frequents the many cafes. Where there were once run-down houses in the shadow of the Berlin Wall, there are now designer shops. Beautiful old homes have been modernized and renovated, and on Sundays, thousands turn the park next to remnants of the wall into a playground for street artists, musicians, and flea market shoppers. This attracts young urban families who enjoy the balance of big city life and small-town comfort. Meanwhile, trendy, young, upper-class visitors from all over the world are attracted to the local high-end shops, cafés, and sophisticated bars and restaurants. The merits of this transformation are a favorite topic of debate around the city, but it makes for some of the best people-watching Berlin has to offer.
