So, the rooms are small, but positive, somehow smiling even. Everything perfectly clean. The service is nice and welcoming. It's close to Alexanderplatz and Prenzlauer Berg. Even some nice restaurants are not far from here. The bed was perfect. I was on the street side and it was not noisy despite the trafficky street. But breakfast is just horrific. All...

This hotel charged my account before I had even arrived in the country the full amount of the stay. The total cost equating to over $300AUD. According to my bank statements the amount was charged previous to that of the deposit which I made when booking. I then tried to cancel my booking, to which I had no reply. Once...

I agree with the other reviews. Good size room. OK Bath. Great Breakfast. WiFi works as it should. Super staff - we had a early departure, and they went to the trouble to make breakfast for us. Tram across the street - easy to get to the Airport Bus, and around Berlin. About 4 long blocks to Alexanderplatz.

Nothing to flash but its clean, cosy and comfy. The free tea and coffee is always a bonus. The morning breakfast was decent with a good range to choose from. The staff were helpful with local restaurants and maps. The tram is right across the road so getting around is not a problem and they usually come every few minutes.

I went to this hotel in February together with my daughters (14 & 16). Small and cosy. The standard is quite simple, but it was very clean and had everything we needed. The breakfast was also simple, but very good selection considering the size of the hotel. The location is ok, but we would have preferred to live a bit...

I really like the hotel. It is a great value. They have a very good breakfast, nice clean rooms and great staff, which is very helpful. I give it a 4, as the rooms and the showers are pretty small. Also, it is over 10min walk to the train station, but you can take a tram or a bus. I...

The Alex Berlin is a refreshingly different and 'heterofriendly' hotel. Friendly and helpful staff, very central and only a few minutes from the next Metro station. Rooms are on the small side and you have to live out of the suitcase. Breakfast was very nice, spa area is good. Unfortunately no parking available.Cool hotel for a (long) weekend, would not...

Hotel is fairly small. Rooms are spacious and have all that is needed. Bathroom wasn't too big and it could have been cleaned better. (There was quite a lot of hair around the shower and sink) Breakfast was ok - buffet with typical weird meats and cheese. Biggest error was that it is served in a corner, this leads to...

We went to Berlin for the Marathon, and we booked this hotel trusting that we will have a nice and comfortable room in a nice hotel, even more after paying almost 200€ per night. When we arrived we realize that it was not a hotel, the tiny reception was also the breakfast and bar room. We do not have elevator...

Staying in Prenzlauer Berg

Neighbourhood Profile
Prenzlauer Berg
No Berlin neighbourhood has undergone a greater change than Prenzlauer Berg. The artists and non-conformists that defined the district’s intriguing subculture in the 1980s and 90s have been replaced by a young, hip crowd that frequents the many cafes. Where there were once run-down houses in the shadow of the Berlin Wall, there are now designer shops. Beautiful old homes have been modernized and renovated, and on Sundays, thousands turn the park next to remnants of the wall into a playground for street artists, musicians, and flea market shoppers. This attracts young urban families who enjoy the balance of big city life and small-town comfort. Meanwhile, trendy, young, upper-class visitors from all over the world are attracted to the local high-end shops, cafés, and sophisticated bars and restaurants. The merits of this transformation are a favorite topic of debate around the city, but it makes for some of the best people-watching Berlin has to offer.
