St Michaels Heim is located in a really beautiful setting. You will have to travel a little bit longer to reach the centre, but it's straightforward to reach from the S Bahn stations Grunewald or Halensee either with a regular bus or by foot. Everything was very clean and the staff were very helpful. Reception is open 24hrs a day. It was brilliant value for money. The only minor downside was there is an extra charge for wifi (I think it was about €1.50 for 24hrs and a few Euro for a longer pass). But the rooms are such good value for money, it wasn't really an issue. Definitely recommended.

I am a british tourist, staying at this hotel for a conference at the Messe (October 2018). It's a lovely looking hotel, in a beautiful, very green, location. It has a hotel restaurant open for a buffet breakfast (7-10am) and lunch (12-2pm). Breakfast was your usual 'continental' type breakfast of rolls, cheese and cold meats. With cereal, juices, tea and (horrible) coffee! Quite expensive for 10 euro but necessary as there is nowhere close to eat. It also has a biergarten/delicatessen on site that serves lovely food that is quite cheap. My two negatives: my hotel room was really hot, and I couldn't figure out how to turn the heating down. Fortunately the room had a large air blower that I turned on during the day. My second negative was the location. It's not very close to shops and restaurants. I walked about 20 min up the road but not much around. The saving grace was the Biergarten next to the hotel. That was open from 10-6pm. Although it was closed on the Wednesday I was there (3rd Oct, bank holiday in Germany) so I was a bit stuck for somewhere to eat. I ended up going to a local petrol station, about 10-15 min walk away, to buy a few snacks. In conclusion, if you want a relatively cheap hotel in a pretty and quiet location, this is it. If you want to be more central to things, this is not the hotel you want. BTW, this hotel is both a hostel and hotel. So you can either stay in the communal facilities of the hostel (communal showers etc) or the hotel which has en suite bathrooms.

Great location- very nice and peaceful area. Just a shame that the hostel put me, as a single traveller, in rooms that that were surrounded by 2 coachloads if students. I am told that the quiet time is not until 23.00 so be prepared for music pumping out of the showers at 9pm and kids chatting loudly in the corridor outside your room at 22.00 with no consideration for anyone else. So here I am writing a review at 22.30 in the hotel rather than sleeping after a long day of sightseeing.

Clean room and common parts. Showers and WC on the floor. If showers have no doors, don't be afraid: it is a German thing ;) The staff is welcoming. The district around the hostel is really quite and suitable for older tourists. Bad point: you must pay for the WiFi. XXI century is here: a free WiFi is a must-have nowadays! The BIO shop in front of the hostel is good, but quite expensive.

Visited for a birthday trip for my partner, due to a mistake in booking we were given bunk beds, the next day the reception staff ( Lars and Nana) did all they could to rectify but couldn't, so gave us a full refund without us even having to ask! The building and surrounding area is beautiful and great for a quiet getaway.
