That's the kind of a thing that sounds minor, but oversized pillows makes it the worst sleeping experience ever. Reception stuff said they dont have other pillows :( Except that - good hotel with a nice stuff!

We have just returned from a very successful school trip to Berlin and we stayed at the Aletto Jugendhotel. This hotel is perfectly suited to school groups. It is centrally located and just a short walk from the metro. The buffet breakfast is ideal and the constant selection of tea and coffee on offer is ideal for reviving tired teachers...

Clean place for the night but most of the staff were not helpful at all. Nice coffee served daily until late and good breakfast. Location is reasonable as it is close to supermarkets and food stalls, about 15 walk to metro station.

The hostel is located in a quiet part of Kreuzberg, next to the Landwehr canal and less than 5 minutes by foot to the Möckenbrücke metro. Reception was courteus. Our room was simple but comfortable. Breakfast was buffet-style. Overall ok. Good price/quality ratio. Only negative point: Sound isolation is not very good. Bring earplugs if you're a light sleeper, and...

Hotel has a great location, it´s near U-bahn stations Möckernbrücke and Hallesches Tor. Staff there are extremely friendly and helpful and breakfast is very good. Our room was clean with good beds and soft pillows. Enjoyed very much staying there! :)

Of course it's not a five star hotel, but for the price it was excellent. We had book a room for three people and it was a big room (for 6), confortable and clean. The location is just near the center, because if you walk 15 minutes, you can be in the hart of the city. Breakfast was perfect for...

I have never been in a Hostel before but I would definitely go back to Aletto. Cheap and cheerful. the rooms are basic but very clean and rather new. Reception staff is ver helpful and nice and breakfast, although based mainly on bread, it' s very good. There is a lounge where you can watch TV or chill on sofas...

Went away with 10 mates to berlin for the weekend. I was dreading it as they had booked a hostel !!! This place is more hotel than hostel. Brilliant breakfast, 10-15 minute walk to berlin centre and some nice bars minutes away. Bottles of lager €2, so we found it hard to leave the courtyard at those prices. Overall a...

This hostel is not bad if you don´t count that you may receive a room with three plank-beds instead of double bed room (but this was maybe more the fault of booking.com). Generally I´ve been to better places but also much worse. The location of hostel is great, with connection to U-bahn and S-bahn. Breakfast was a bit school style...

The hotel is a real bargain. Me and my friend paid for a double room with private bathroom and breakfast just 80 Euros for a 5 night stay! The breakfast was pretty basic but it did the job. If you pay a little extra you can have access to the hot buffet and make your brreakfast more complete. Rooms were...

Staying in Kreuzberg

Neighbourhood Profile
Berlin's revolutionary heart and immigrant roots can both be found in Kreuzberg, but this central neighbourhood is beginning a new chapter. In the 1950s and '60s, Turkish guest workers settled around Kottbusser Tor, while in the 1980s and '90s, rambunctious squatters and artists gathered to live a carefree life here. An old hospital even became a hotspot of riots between squatters and police. Today you can still find the best kebabs in town and many underground clubs, but a lot has changed as well. The hospital has been transformed into an art center, and increasingly you will find new urban cafés, restaurants and designer shops. Rising housing prices and gentrification threaten the spirit of this area along the Spree River, but the neighbourhood’s legacy is upheld by a very engaged community fighting to preserve its rebellious identity.
