We spent five nights at the Chateau Hotel. Staff are very friendly and multi-lingual. For a city like Berlin with many centers, the hotel is not right at the center but at the Ku'damm Street, which was the center of "West Berlin" once. The airport Tegel is only one bus away. The starting point of the tour buses and the... More

This hotel is a 15 minute taxi journey from the main train station and cost approx 15 euros. It's situated just off the main drag, Kurfürstendamm, and is a good location to explore the city of Berlin. It's not the easiest to locate, as it's a doorway next to the Egyptian restaurant. The rooms are adequate and clean, it's quite... More

We were maybe unlucky but during our stay, the hotel was extremely noisy: drilling at all hours and super noisy air conditioning units so that one could not relax and rest properly. Throughout our stay, the wifi connection was so slow and broke down so frequently that it was unusable. The two young ladies at the reception gave me the... More

Right in the centre of everything, Lovely rooms, breakfast excellent . Staff really friendly and helpful. Wished there had been a proper bar area, would have been nice to come back and relax instead of sitting in one of the surrounding bars/restaurants outside.

Although there was clearly a choice of a double bed that I took up on booking, I was given a room with twin beds. When asked the staff said that no room was available with a double bed. I know that in Europe twin rooms are often described as 'doubles' but if you book a room advertised as a double... More

Although part of the Mercure network, this hotel has a family-owned atmosphere. Slightly off the K-Dam, it is quiet and comfortable, with big, clean and accessorized rooms. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. Once of the best breakfasts in this class of hotels - rich, fresh, and inn abundance. Within walking distance (3-5 minutes) from several U-bahn stations, and... More

Good hotel in good location. Close to transport, restaurants etc. Well maintained, large rooms, good breakfast. Only problem when I was there: disastrous internet. But this often happens nowadays, and perhaps one should just give up on hotel internet and use wireless.

Staying in Charlottenburg

Neighbourhood Profile
Charlottenburg
Breathe in Berlin’s royal past while walking through the gardens of beautiful Charlottenburg Palace, which lends its name to this well-heeled neighbourhood. Here you'll find some of the oldest homes in the city: upper-class apartment buildings with ornate facades and marble-floored foyers line the cobblestone streets. Stroll by sophisticated restaurants, through little parks, or around Lake Lietzensee. Window shop down Kurfürstendamm, the most renowned high-end shopping street in Berlin, where you can find all the big designer names. In the evening, visit one of the old theatres close by Zoo Station which were nightlife hot spots in the 1920s, or dine in one of the many international restaurants around Savignyplatz before heading to other parts of town for a night out.
